"A Case of Exploding Mangoes" won the "2009 Commonwealth Book Prize", as well as the "2008 Man Booker Prize". Its a comic novel by Pakistani writer Mohammed Hanif about the plane crash that killed General Muhammed Zia ul-Haq, a former president of Pakistan. Having been born from Pakistan, this book immediately caught my eye. The fact that its been based on President Muhammed Zia ul-Haq - my dad's least favourite president of all time and generally the most hated being in the country - this book further amplified my interest. I am now curious to dig into this book. So far, its slight use of a dark satire writing style definitely has shown promise.
