I say quietness is best ;) but you probably knew that

It's a seriously important one for sure.

I can't read on a moving car. It gives me nausea but I can do ships, airplanes, etc.

I keep a notebook to write all the difficult words and later I'll look up the meaning. It's also handy to keep a highlighter to highlight quotes.

For me, it must be quiet, and I must be comfortable (or at least semi-comfy). And reading before bedtime makes you sleepy and relaxed =).
