Zaya looked out the window of the car when they arrived. "So this is Lake Steven."

"yup. This is where ky parents net, that's how I know about it."

"Awesome! That's pretty cool.", Zaya climbed out of the car and gazed at the beautiful lake and stars.

He nodded and sat down under the willow tree. "wanna eat?"

"Yes! I'm starving.", she sat down next to him.

He gave her her cookie, and took a bite out of his.

"Thank you.", she took it and grabbed a napkin out of the bag that used to hold their cookies.

He nodded. he picked a daffodil and handed it to her.

She took the beautiful flower gently and sniffed it. "Thank you very much, it's beautiful."

"Welcome." he said. the moonlight seemed to illuminate his red face.

Zaya took a bite out of her cookie.

Jack had finished his and was staring out at the water. "I hear in the winter there's gonna be an ice skating party." he said casually.

"Cool.", she continued eating her cookie.

"Would you like to- to come with me?"

Zaya smiled. "Of course i would. It'd be REALLY fun. I can't wait."

He gave a small smile if relief. "thanks."

Zaya giggled a little. "No problem. It's not just a favor. It's something i really want to do. There's a difference you know.", she smiled.

"I know. but I just..... was happy that you said you would go."

"Yay. And i was happy that you asked me."

He broke into a grin.

Zaya grinned right back at him. She gazed into the sky at the twinkling stars. "The world can be so beautiful sometimes."

"All the time."

"Not ALL the time. With all the pollution and stuff in some places. It's just an ugly mess.", she frowned. "I just wish I could save everything."

"Impossible."

"You don't have to rub it in.", she rubbed her arm sadly.

He grinned good naturely. "Sorry."

"It's fine.", she said, looking out at the lake.

"So....." he said

"So.....", she said.

Ye nodded. "Yup."

She giggled softly.

He laughed. "Wanna go back?"

"Sure. This has been fun. But fun can't last forever.", she stood up and wrapped the rest of her cookie in the napkin and put it back in the bag.

He nodded and went to the car.

She joined him and opened the car door, sliding into the passenger seat.

He smiled at her. He started the car and drove on.

Zaya tapped a rhythm on the leather seat. Tap tap tap. Taaaaap. Tap tap tap. Taaaap tap tap.

She continued tapping, oblivious to Jack.

He kissed her cheek and drove on.

Zaya was grateful it was dark so Jack didn't see her blush so much her face looked like a tomato.

Zaya continued tapping quietly. Then she reached over and put her hand on Jack's free hand.

He squeezed her hand. "Sorry if I scared you." he said softly.

"It's ok. You didn't."

"Good." he said. He didn't let.go of her hand.

She could see the college through the window now.
