An orphan and street urchin, the young Peter is taken in by Jimmy Hook, for whom he becomes the leader of a gang of young pickpockets and thieves. Peter has a sharp mind and a devotion to Jimmy, who he sees as a father figure. For him, Neverland promises high adventure and a whole new world to explore.

Before he was a pirate, Jimmy Hook was a gentleman of London, operating on the outskirts of society and running a fencing school as a front for his more underhanded undertakings. His network of young thieves do the dirty work while Hook hopes for the one big score that will get him readmitted to the upper echelons of the civil world. In Neverland, he discovers a new side to himself after falling in with Captain Bonny's pirate crew.

Generally older than the children depicted in Barrie's work, Neverland's Lost Boys are a crew of orphans who've fallen under the influence and employ of Jimmy Hook. Led by Peter, they serve as pickpockets and thieves for Hook's stolen goods racket. When they find themselves in Neverland, a world of adventure opens for them, but the stakes are higher than they might have imagined.

Still refined, Starkey is a much more vicious, ambitious sort this time around. As first mate to Captain Elizabeth Bonny, and also her consort, he holds a special place of prestige among the pirates of Neverland...a place that is threatened by the arrival of Jimmy Hook and his unexpected connection with the lady pirate captain.

The daughter of the People of the Raven's Holy Man, Tiger Lily - here renamed Aaya - holds a position of prestige within her tribe. She takes a liking to Peter and the Lost Boys and sets out to help them in their quest to preserve the land and secrets of the Tree Spirits, with whom her people are allied. She is a noble and brave girl who has much more to say than in her previous incarnations.

A member of the Tree Spirit race, Tinkerbell is tasked with the protection of the forests and natural resources of Neverland. She is, however, a rebellious sort, and proves herself more willing to engage with the humans who suddenly find themselves in this mystical new world. She defies the elders of her tribe in befriending Peter, and proves herself a useful companion. Her name comes from the sound her wings make as she flies.

Smee may be the least foul of Captain Bonny's pirates, but he's still a scurvy sort through and through, as evidenced by his participation in the imprisonment of the Lost Boys and the pursuit of the Tree Spirits' magic.
