My new book, Giving Up the Ghost: Spooky Tales of Haunted Objects will be coming out next year and I'm looking to add y'all in it! Do you have a possessed possession? Tell me about it below and let's chat.

Wendy (loulouredbook) | 1 comments I don't actually own the object. It was located in the basement of an old Victorian house I lived in many years ago. As you probably know, the basements of Victorians are often very dark and dank and some even have vegetation growing up from a dirt floor. They were not like the modern liveable basements of today. This one was scary. It was divided into three sections. The laundry room, a storage space and a back room, that contained an old, very large oil tank and a strange mound that shot out from the ground. It was covered in cement but was the shape of a coffin. I kid you not! Whenever I did the laundry I could hear odd sounds coming from the room. I didn't investigate, just grabbed my clothes and raced up the stairs. Then, I was told by a house inspector, the tank needed to be removed. I hired two guys to do the job. Before they came, I went into the room to check it out. There was little natural light but I could see four things: the oil tank, the mysterious mound, an old fashioned diaper pin hanging from one of the rafters and right next to the pin, a religious metal. For some reason the sight of that metal made my blood run cold but I was curious. I took the metal off the rusty nail it was hanging from, and examined it. It was silver with the figure of a saint (I don't know which one) and two children standing at his side. Within a few seconds I felt a cold draft enter the room. I knew that I needed to replace the metal. And that is exactly what I did then slowly backed out of the room, checking every corner for movement. I'm convinced the metal was a guardian against something harmful held captive in that room. The tank was removed but the metal stayed put.
