Hi,I'm a Canadian author using Canadian locations in my writing. I have one short story I just published (hopefully will raise some money for our local humane society's capital fund). I also have a chick lit offering I will publish shortly.
I would love to connect with Canadian authors.
If you are interested in feline spy fiction (how could you not be) I will send you a review e-copy.
If you are interested in Canadian chick lit - check out my Goodreads page.

Welcome, welcome.
We have been fairly quiet of late but glad to see new people on board.
I hope that we get a bit more action on here. I am not a writer but love to read and I have enjoyed many Canadian books. So thanks for letting us know about yourselves.
I will check out your links shortly.

Hello Everyone. I'm a Canadian writer who enjoys setting my stories in Canada. I love reading stories set here, so I can only imagine at least one other person does.I also write fantasy, and I often use location names in Canada as place settings in my story.
My Goodreads page is here: http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
Hi Diane, I looked at your page - I think we have a thing or two in common....do you have green eggers in your flock?
Hello Jane, Yes, I do have blue/green layers. Americaunas. Other breeds we have are Buff Laced Polish, Rhode Island Reds, Chanteclers and Mottled Houdons. Our egg rack looks more like an Easter basket with blue, green, white, cream and brown eggs in it.

They sure are fun though. I'd like to get a dark brown layer sometime. You know they have more personality than I expected.
Buff Opringtons are pretty. We have a rooster running around, but no hen. A fox got her in January. Ours are mostly pets, too. We haven't bred any yet, but hope to in the spring. We're trying a few different breeds to see which we like the best. Dark brown eggs are very cool. I'd like to get my hands on a few Dorking, but that's a pipe dream. I've been looking for a year and haven't found any local, and I'm not prepared to order them from the US (too much paperwork/expense/inconvenience).
Hi Diane, just got around to looking in. Sorry about your Buff! I lost two to raccoons this year. I wasn't very happy about it!! I'll have to google Dorkings. Just did it - they look extremely ccol. Bet if you keep looking, you'll find some chicken collector closer to home. I just have the five, but I surf kijjiji and an ONtario chicken chat board from time to time - it's amazing what people get up to!
I LOVE how this conversations turned to chickens! Only kooky Kanucks can pull something like that and get away with it!!Btw, hello to all of you! Happy to be here, chickens and all!
Come visit my book site; no chickens there (sorrrry!)- but from now till Xmas you can download my debut novel for free. http://www.jahnasleep.com/
Oh, and you can also read the first three chapters to see if you even want to bother.
Happy Holidays everyone!
Gosh, I haven't checked in for ages either! Hi there. I'm a reader not a writer (well I don't write anything but technical reports and I'm never convinced that the people who are supposed to read them ever do!) But I do try to read a good mix of Canadian and other authors. And I love hearing author chit chat. Its unexpected. cluck cluck!
Chickens are awesome! They are unexpectedly good company,I must say. I thought laying eggs was an inescapable biological imperative, but I now understand that each egg is a unique, artisanal creation that should be cherished rather than taken for granted.....think the girls are playing me?
Just wanted to welcome everyone. I'm hoping I've finally got my schedule back on track so I can come in and chat more regularly. I do read everyone's posts and check out your links though. Like Shannon, I love reading author chatter. Chickens are a new one. :)
Chickens?? We Canadians are never chickens :) Maybe gooses...Hi again...(gee, that would make a good name for a movie) Recognize some names here. I write comedy in several genres, including crime capers. We have some rockin' crime writers in Canada. (Full disclosure here: I'm the Executive Director of Crime Writers of Canada)
Nice to see this list active again.
Hi,I was just about to start a chicken soup when I found this group.
I ESPECIALLY look for Canadian books, there's something homey about them (like chickens).
I've written a short novel, CULLOO, which needs reviews. The first chapter is on my blog if you're interested. For those who do reviews, please email me for a PDF, ePub or Mobi copy.

Nice meeting you!

Hi, I'm Canadian and I write mysteries. False Impressions is my first novel in the Megan Scott/Michael Elliott series and is set in Montreal. I hold a paperback copy giveaway each month. I LOVE to read, especially mysteries, and my to-read list keeps growing faster than I can make a dent in it! Nice to meet so many book lovers in one place!

Hi, Murielle. You posted an incorrect URL to your site. Here is the correct one:

I'm curious why you chose "rites" after your name instead of "writes." Are you possibly referencing the "rites of Spring?" I noted that it said "McRites Press" at the end of the chapter you posted, but couldn't find out if that was your last name or the publisher's name in your "About" page.
Either way, best of luck with your book and welcome to the group.
Cheers,
Mark
Welcome Murielle and Sandra. I will keep my eye open for your books. I like to read mysteries in between my heavier reading so always on the lookout for someone new to add to the repertoire.

do you do the goodreads giveaways? I will have to take a look see.

Hello! I'm Carolyn in central Canada! At my blog, I write articles on a variety of topics. Posts for 'reading challenges' has been top heavy but that'll peter out. One might find ideas of interest even within those. :) www.CMRiedel.WordPress.comSandra, congratulations on becoming published! That's my dream, which would require finishing a draft. Q;-)= It means a lot that folks remain pro-book, even if many like "e-books". That concept isn't my thing at all, which leaves many giveaway / review opportunities futile for me.
If paranormal or mystery authors are happy to send physical copies, reading would be my honour. My reviews never spoil a plot and I'm opinionated enough to tell EVERYONE I love a book. If it isn't my cup of tea, I'm very respectful and gauge it on its own merits.
Hi Everyone,I'm Canadian. I write fantasy and science fiction, with some thriller and paranormal elements. I also love to read Canadian authors. Margaret Atwood and Margaret Lawrence are two of my favs. Many years ago I read Tété Blanche by Marie-Claire Blais and absolutely loved its rich imagery.
It's good to hear that others are including Canadian locations in their books. I have a YA science fiction book that's headed to a publisher some time this year (fingers crossed for a book deal) that's set in my native Nova Scotia.
Happy writing and reading.
Cheers, Kim
Hi, I'm new to this group and delighted to have found it. I think I qualify, because I'm a Canadian author, having recently published The King Trilogy, a uniquely Canadian fictional story, featuring the theft, one of the largest and most audacious scams in the histories of both countries, of $325,000,000 from the U.S. and Canadian governments. The trilogy follows the devastating path of the stolen fortune and its destructive affect on everyone who touches it, most particularly on two star-crossed lovers.I added all three volumes to the Group's Bookshelf. All three have recently made it to page 1 of Goodread's Listopia List: "Lesser Known Authors."

I'm a proud Canadian and also an author.
Hello all!
