What are some of everyone's plans for the holidays?

message 2: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 1195 comments Mod
We don't really have any yet, Holly... with the exception of going over to visit Tanya's family for Christmas (an annual tradition for us.)

message 3: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 60 comments Since the only job I can manage to get these days is in retail I'll be working and then after work, both fro Thanksgiving and Christmas, rushing to be with family. I do make breakfast for my family every Christmas morning and that is something that I look forward to. This will also be my husband's and my first holiday season as a married couple.

Same here, Dustin.
Although, we'll probably do what we always do which is the in-laws for Thanksgiving, David's Aunt's on Christmas Eve, and then the in-laws again on Christmas Day.

That sounds nice, Holly.
Ordinarily, we spend time with my step mom's side of the family for Thanksgiving, but with Carter coming soon, my Mother-in-Law will be here for about a week for the holiday and to help us out, of course.:)

Lawrence | 51 comments No holiday plans for me. I just started a new job and I won't be able to go home for Thanksgiving in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm just thankful to be blessed with a job these days since I've been off work for over 14 months. God is so good everyone!! :)

Indeed, He is, Lawrence!
How the new job going, anyway?

message 17: by Alondra (new)

Alondra Miller I thought you all would feel me on that one. I love some food... and I am a picky eater; but holiday food is always fattening and yummy. Plus between Thanksgiving and Christmas is when i do the most cooking. Especially of sweets!!

Congrats Lawrence! Nothing like a job and some security. Phew!

message 18: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 18 comments Thanksgiving was a couple of weeks ago up here. There was plenty of face-stuffing for my part!

We don't have any solid plans for Christmas yet, but we usually have dinner with my in-laws sometime in mid-December, and then have dinner with my family on Christmas day. We always stay home Christmas Eve - I make lasagna, and then everyone opens their Christmas Eve jammies and puts them on.

Alondra we are gonna do a 50 cookie challenge, meaning we are gonna try and bake 50 different kinds of cookies & Candies. My parents were cookie freaks. We would have tin after tin of cookies. Hub and I usually do all the cooking for holidays since I dont get to go home much for the holidays. I do miss my sisters though. So hub's family come over for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Anyway. Happy Holidays for everyone! This is the best time of year!

message 23: by Kristen (new)

Kristen | 54 comments No clue! Usually spend Thanksgiving feeding the homeless & needy. Gonna try & smoke the family turkey this year on the grill.

Christmas is too far away:)! Lol!

Yeah, earlier harvest and all that. If we waited until November, we'd be digging our bounty out of the snow LOL :)

I'm very excited about starting our Christmas shopping!
My husband and I have already started shopping for our daughter and each other; we have to start for the rest of the family. I want to try and get it done as soon as we can. I don't know how well that'll work! Lol

I'd like to get some new decorations, too. They have such pretty stuff out this year!

congrats, fellow reader! Blessings come to those who wait and are faithful. More blessings will follow for you. :0

@Janie. I am talking so much junk about food, and yet; I have not been to the grocery store! In fact, the hubby was grilling out yesterday... gee whiz

message 39: by Janie (new)

Janie Johnson LOL Alondra have not even started shopping for Thanksgiving dinner yet. I always wait till last minute! I wish I could be one of those people who can get shopping a month early, especially for Christmas. What do I do? I wait till like a week before Christmas! LOL

message 40: by J.S. (new)

J.S. Bailey (jsbailey) For Thanksgiving I'm supposed to make creamed peas as per tradition. And since the end of the world is 12/21, I'm not worrying about Christmas. ;)

message 41: by Janie (new)

Janie Johnson LOL J.S. oh yes I forgot about that. ;) Hub and I make the whole dinner ourselves. When we invite family we tell them to just bring themselves. Something I feel we can do for them. I love the act of giving, so much more. :)

i can never go early; black friday means bedtime, reading and watching the news about crazy people running over one another for half-priced gifts that no one wants. :/
