my reasons for picking Austin, TX:

-it's an urban forest
-there is pretty much all the major stores there, if u like shopping
-the weather kicks butt. (the coldest it got here was like, high 20s in december)
-U.T. is one of the best colleges in the nation. (swim team especially. they put 12 swimmers on the olympic team last year)
-good food. (mexican, indian, thai, Chinese, Japanese, you name it)
-it's not too small, or too big.

the only cons i can think of right now are

-really bad wind, (if you kiteboard or windsurf like my dad & uncle, you're outta luck)
-it doesn't snow. ever. (this is only bad if you love snow)
-in the summer it's really, really hot (but i'm used to it)

I agree (I live here also!)
more pros:
-it does have major stores, but it also has MANY family owned stores and small shops (used to love Rooster Andrews for sport stuff, I love Lucy in Disguise and those cool stores on South Congress.)
-under food, so many vegetarian options. Almost every restaurant has a good vegetarian option (in the local stores category, not places like McDonals.)
-Really eco friendly. It was in the top 5 greenest cities a while ago on some Yahoo! article. http://promo.realestate.yahoo.com/the...

-About UT, it's not only a great college, it's cheap.
-the music. we are the live music capital of the world, so obviously we have a bunch of concerts.

UTAH is the best so give up

the south congress stores ROCK! it's fun to go hang out there with my friends, but you definetly gotta watch out for Big Top Candy. that place is a death mine. soo good tho. and on vegetarian, have you ever been to the vegan cafe in toy joy. it's really good, but the oatscreme is kinda weird.

I love bigtop. I know a secret that's right outside... XD.

I go to Fulmore (for the magnet, not the regular school)
