What is your "specialty?"
Ummm I'm going to a competition for 4n6 next weekend and I'm doing storytelling... Does that count?
Errr... No clue I just got to highschool and they didn't have 4n6 earlier. For me I don't know how to memorize a book, monologue yes book no.
I've done storytelling and got number three... in primary school. I've joined a debate team in Highschool last year and also got number three... but I'm still new in the team and the team's fate is still unsure. Maybe there'd no debate team next year. :(((And both competition I've entered was not using English, it used my native language.
............ Those competitions were not in English, though. They're in Malay. I mean, they used Malay language. Urgh, and my English is still sucks.
(Correct me if I'm wrong Tab.)
To the best of my understanding, Declamation is where you take a speech that someone else has written and re-present it.

To the best of my knowledge you are right

Fair enough. :)

I'm willing to try it. I may end up not liking it, but I'm going to try it I think, especially since it's only open to 9th/10th graders.
I haven't been in any debates before but whenever I'm a group, mostly everyone points at me says that I should be the group captain/leader. I haven't wrote any speeches but at times I can be very persuasive about things. Do those things count as "specialties"? I also almost always participate in class discussions if that counts as one.
4n6 is an abbreviation that, at least, my school uses for Forensics. Do you know what forensics is?

Oh, I see it now!
Oh, I see it now!
According to dictionary.com, the definition is:
pertaining to, connected with, or used in courts of law or public discussion and debate
pertaining to, connected with, or used in courts of law or public discussion and debate
Forensics is Speech/Debate. Speech is divided into Categories Speaking and Acting. Speaking is like Declamation which is doing someone else's speech and OO (Original Oratory) which is writing your own. Acting is like HI/DI (Humorous Interpretation or Dramatic Interpretation) which is either a monologue or a multiple parts piece with one person or Duo (same thing with two people) or Storytelling where you act out a Children's book.
Make sense?
Make sense?
Yeah, it goes along with HI and DI (meaning it's interp.), but I can't remember what it stands for.
I like Speaking and Acting. Well, have to choose which one suits me more.I've joined a sketch but only for minor character? Does that count in Acting?
well, next year I am going to do the Intro to Speech and Debate elective at my school. I am going to be in grade 6
Just to revive this topic, I'll say that this year, I've done a lot of HI competition, a little bit of Storytelling, I'm going to start working on a Duo, and I want to go back to OO.

Edit 3/8/13: I do Storytelling, and I'm working on an HI for Districts.
