Every book has flaws, but Twilight is a good series. If it was so badly written like some people say, why would so many people of so many ages and backgrounds love it? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but what upsets me is when people imply that Twilight lovers are stupid or uneducated. The haters need to learn to express their opinions without personally insulting those who love Twilight.

I agree with you Tricia. There is absolutely nothing that is so bad about Twilight. This book can be read by everyone starting from the age of 12 or 13. Some people don't give it a try and blindly tell that Twilight is bad. I seriously don't like that. There is nothing missing in Twilight and it has everything in equal propotions. Even if they hate Twilight they should not openly tell and insult Twihards. I am sure if they start to read the series they wont be able to keep the book down...
I have one daughter who loves it and one daughter who hates it. Guess what? The daughter who hates it has never read the book or watched the movie. She hates it because it's popular, I think.
It's a very old and absurd notion that people who hate the series hates it blindly to the point where they haven't read the book and hates it. Please don't say something so ignorant. Everyone has reasons for not liking the series, very good reasons might I add. They have their reasons and people who like it have their reasons for liking it. To say that they hate it for no reason because they haven't read it, that if they did that they'd like it is very insulting. That's as worse as saying that they may show hate for the series, but secretly like it.
I didn't say 'everyone' hates it blindly. I was speaking about my daughter. She hates Harry Potter too. She likes to be difficult, I think. People have lots of reasons for disliking Twilight. Some read it and found it unappealing. Some find it unappealing based on the premise. Every book isn't for every person. Like I said, I have one kid who loves it and one who wants nothing to do with it. Different strokes for different folks.

I suppose I meant that in general, it's not a good thing to imply. People can decide before reading something if they'll actually want to read it. It's nice if people have a well informed opinion about something if they wish to discuss it, but with Twilight it comes around to 'if you didn't like it, why'd you read it?' which irks me. So yeah, it's not for everyone, but no one has to read it to say they don't like it.
That's true, Jesse, if I see a military thriller, I can pretty much tell right away I don't want to read it because that's not my thing. Doesn't mean it's a bad book. I'm sure it's the same way with Twilight. Some people see the word "Vampire" and they're already done with it. As for the people who read it and hate it, they are entitled to their opinions. A lot of people just can't deal with Bella. Fair enough.
Well, people hate this book for a number of reasons. (I'm not trying to impress my views on anyone, btw, just answering your question.)
1. Bad writing--the prose of the first book is awful. She uses words in the wrong context and her writing is rife with excess adjectives and adverbs. Also, a lot of people get sick of being told for the umpteenth time of Edward's earth-shattering beauty. Personally, I think the writing of the first one is awful, but as the series progresses it can be quite beautiful and fluid. While there's a lot to be desired, there's also a lot to be admired.
2. Pacing--the pacing of these books are really, really slow. People in general dislike slow pacing.
3. Characters--many people view Bella as antifeminist, weak, one-dimensional, and lacking in any personality. They see Edward as a Gary Stu with also little to no personality.
4. Plot--the plotting and overall structure of these books are haphazard and lacking. It just lacks structure. The first two books have nothing building up to the climax, and people find the resolutions to be rushed and sloppy. I agree with this for the most part, though I thought Eclipse had tight enough plotting not for it to fall under this category.
A lot of times, it's from a literary standpoint. I'm pretty sure a lot of haters still found the books to be entertaining, me included.
Some people view these books as antifeminist. I used to as well, though I've been convinced by a lot of fans that Twilight is, in fact, not very antifeminist. But it IS a common reason for hating Twilight.

HATES IT!1. the books just keep going on and on
2. Edward is BORING!! so what if he is 'earth shatteringly beautiful' he is BORING
3. Bella is just stupid and weak need I say more?
4. Bella = pale? isn't she already a vamp? seriously, they could have at least made her tan and not so pale she looks sickly
5. also Kristin Stewart has only one emotion throughout the whole series, scared
