In Suzanne Collins' dyportian novel MockingJay, Katniss is joy for Gale that they are best friends for life. Katniss has been best friends with Gale for a really long since they were little kids. Katniss was in the Hunger Games and Gale told her before she left "Good luck Katniss." "Gale and I has been friends since we were kids." This quote states Katniss feels joy because if Gale didn't meet Katniss, and Katniss won't have support she had until now. Katniss was with Gale to hunt for food, going to places together, and hangout together. Therefore, Katniss has joy with Gale.

Wesley | 50 comments The Mark of Athena (Heroes of Olympus, #3) by Rick Riordan

In Rick Riordan's fantasy novel, the Mark of Athena, Annabeth's joy is Percy, and vice versa. When they meet in the beginning of the book, they are brought together after being separated for 6 months. They are very happy and Annabeth ignored all the stares from the other campers around them until they met. In the end of the Son of Neptune, Percy was filled with joy because they can finally see each other. When they finally see each other, they are relieved and when she knows Percy is down below their flying ship. " She couldn't afford to get overwhelmed", she states this because she knows he's down there and is very excited. She miss him so much it is difficult to let herself be presentable in front of the romans. If she went crazy she would not be trustworthy about the quest. Therefore Percy and Annabeth are each-other's joy.

Andy Chen | 44 comments In Rick Riordan's fantasy novel, The Sea of Monsters, Tyson's joy is Percy. Tyson is a cyclopes and also a half brother of Percy's, after Poseidon decided to claim him as his new monster. Tyson is now a smither and is in charge, being the manager of blacksmith. Tyson haven't seen Percy for a while after accepting a request from Poseidon, from working as a smither. Percy once sent an Iris -Message to Tyson, and when Tyson notice, he stated, "Percy! He tried to give me a big hug, but he bumped into the portal, realizing it wasn't real life." Percy was using a magical message to communicate to Tyson. This quote shows Tyson's joy is Percy because he loves his half-brother so much and missed Percy after a while he left to the bottum of the sea to blacksmith. Another reason why Tyson's joy is Percy is because he helped him fight against kids who scared Tyson. Therefore, this os why Tyson's joy is Percy.

They go to the same high school, almost do the same things and Rowley is always copying Greg. There is not a day where they are not together. "Sure enough the next day Rowley came to school with the SAME thing" I think this means that since Greg was full of joy when Rowley came to school. Rowley didnt even tell Greg that he was going to copy him. Therefore Rowley is Greg's Joy.

He plans to use both his and Davies voices to bring the a life size clay sculpture he made to life just by whispering to it and get it to do anything they want him to do. "Stephen grabed a chunk of dirt into his hand and molded it to a shape of a snail and spit at it,'Davie, spit at it.' so Davie did. Then Stephen hold it up to his mouth and told it to move and Davie did the same"(107). Sydney Mok (SydneyMok) | 43 comments In the book The Lovely Bones by Alice Bebold, the protagonist's sister is Lindsey. Since Salmon doesn't really show a joy in the book, I choose Lindsey. Lindsey's joy is her boyfriend Samuel. After her sister Susie died, nobody really wanted to talk to her because they were scared and gossiped about the Salmon family. Samuel still sticks up for her though even though they don't show it during school, they still love each other. Lindsey needs someone right now because her sister was just murdered and she needs a friend or someone that will cheer her up. "All spring long she'd worn the half-a-heart pendant while Samuel wore the other half. They were shy about their affection for each other. They did not hold hands in the hallways at school, and they did not pass notes...." (115). This quotes shows that Samuel is a big help to the big thing that changes Lindsey's life. Therefore, Lindsey's joy is Samuel.

Greg (protagonist) is a kind of person who likes to be rich and famous when he grows up but he also don't want to get humiliated as a kid. Greg is joy now that the girl he like are finally friends.
"Hi," said the girl.
"Hi," said Greg nervously.
Greg might be joyful that the girl he like is talking to him but he can be a little nervous too.

"The threesome of books poked thier noses out.Lisel moved in" this shows that Lisel joy is books because, she risks getting caught by someone on the street as she takes the books that survied from the book burning which I assume at this time in Germany it was ilegal. Were the penality might even result in death. So this shows that she likes books so much that she willing to risk her life for them. In concluison Lisel joy is her books.

Gaby | 7 comments In the realistic fiction novel Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher, Clay the 17 year old boy started off with stressful mixed feeling about the audio tapes sent to him by a dead girl Hannah Baker . The audio tapes where meant to get people with the same feelings he's had up till now. The tapes where somewhat a suicide note. My character actually likes Hannah and I think maybe thinking of her made him happier . " It's Hannah . God. I love her smile . And her hair " (90). This quote means that he likes Hannah and just the thought of her being there or still alive is making him happy . It also means that he hopes that he's not one of the 13 reasons why she killed her self / committed suicide .

Ilijah A | 40 comments In Cassandra Clares fantasy book, Clary's mom brings her joy. In the book, Clary wants to save her mom. She will do anything to save her mother. She wants to save her because she is dying. She cares about her mother so much that she puts her life at stake to protect her. “I’ll do whatever,” he said. “Whatever you want, if you promise to stay here.”
“I can’t.”
He let go of her, as if she’d pushed him away. “Why not?”
“Because,” she said, “she’s my mother, Jace.”
“And mine.” His voice was cold. “In fact, why didn’t Madeline approach both of us about this? Why just
you?”
“You know why?”
“Because,” he said, and this time he sounded even colder, “to her you’re Jocelyn’s daughter. But I’ll always be Valentine’s son.” –Jace and Clary pg. 8 This quote shows that she will always be her daughter and that she will never stop fighting. In conclusion, Clary's mother makes her joyful

Altamir III III (longdeoking) | 27 comments In Walter Dean Myers realistic fiction book, Game, a joy for my protagonist Drew is the ball game. Why is the ball game joy for Drew, its because he said that he "loves the sound of the ball, the way it dribbles, the look of the ball, and the way of the game." He does everything to play a hard serious game. On his team, he is a star player and he is the guy that every person wants. I say this because it does't show that he just loves it but he is the best at it. And for that, he got a bright future with the game.

This brings Ishmael joy because he hasn't seen any of his family members since he ran away from the war. " My uncle is coming. I saw him down the road by the mango tree," I told Esther the first weekend after his initial visit." You sound excited."
These quotes show that Ishmael is really excited to meet his uncle for the first time in a very long time, and its bringing joy to his life

Zoe | 25 comments In Christopher Paolini's fantasy novel Eragon, what brings Eragon joy is Murtagh. Murtagh is Eragon's best friend, who has been traveling with Eragon through a huge desert. Eragon had been traveling alone through the desert with his friend Brom, and a dragon named Saphira, but they had been ambushed by a pack of creatures called Urgals. Murtagh then saved them, and helped them escape. Later they were ambushed again, and an Urgal killed Brom. Murtagh decided to travel with Eragon because he also didn't like what Galbotorix was doing. He also helped defeat the Urgals when they were being attacked. "I'm glad you're here. You saved us from the Urgals"(547). This shows that Murtagh brings Eragon joy, because he even said that he was happy. He also said that he was happy to be friends with Murtagh, in another part of the book.
