The Ugly Green Button

I thought the computer was acting up when I first saw it. I haven't really used it enough to know if I like it or not. Sometimes, I wish websites wouldn't change so much. I like the old format, I understand how it works. Why change it up?!
According to the GR staff, the additional functionality of the button should assist in speeding up the site traffic. This is yet to be seen but that is the given reason.
Tip!If you are trying to add "owned book" information, click on the book icon and choose "read."
This will open the lightbox (pop up) and allow the full functionality of the review box.
It works better, or at least more intuitively than before. Its look doesn't fit with the rest of the site at all though. I'm guessing it's just a first step of a larger site redesign?
Wouldn't mind that honestly. I've always felt that this site was rather clunky, especially the forums and your profile options and such. The blazing white background isn't the easiest on the eyes either.
The button certainly...ah, stands out? I find it easier though. Whenever I added a book to my library before it would go straight to read. Then I'd have to find it in my library and add it to the shelf I wanted it in. Maybe it was operator error. Don't know. But the new button is operator error proof. =)
I like the idea of the button. It's certainly conspicuous! I like the idea, too, that I can add the book to any of my shelves with a single click. The only thing that confused me at first is the label: "Want to Read"? I don't have a 'want-to-read' shelf, so how does that work? Took me a while to work out that it maps to my 'to-read' shelf. Now, call me pedantic, but 'want-to-read' isn't the same to me as 'to-read'. The first means I'd like to read it, sometime, but I don't own it yet (I have a 'maybe' shelf for those books). The second means I own it, and it's waiting patiently for its turn.
But still, I like the functionality.
