Danielle Use this thread to talk about other books in the genre (or it's many sub-genres) that you've enjoyed and offer suggestions to others in the group.

Danielle So I thought I'd get this thread started by writing about a series I recently found through another romance novel book club I'm a member of online (the Vaginal Fantasy Hangout , this is their goodreads page you should check them out, they're awesome).

The first book in the series is called Ill Wind and it takes place in a world where the planet (i.e. mother nature) is out to eradicate the human race and the only thing keeping us alive are wardens who control various aspects of nature. The main character Joanne is a weather warden who is on the run from the warden's council for undisclosed reasons. She has to navagate a world full of people with the ability to control the weather, fire, the earth, and much more who want to take her out while making use of the often sexy Djinns who are being used (and abused) in the name of an imagined justice served by the Warden's Council.

There are 9 books in the series and a second series after it that has 4 so far.

Trish (trishria) Looking for 'alternative ronances' I came upon this: 'A Long Fatal Love Chase' by Louissa May Alcott. Not published intil 1995 due to being called too sensational! It’s no wonder this book was rejected as “too sensational” – it’s got everything:

an obsessive lover who stalks his prey
a deal with the devil
a strong, independent woman
a tempted Roman Catholic priest
a mental asylum
twists and turns!
murder!
deceit!
mystery!
suspense!
and even . . . virtue!
This book is a page-turner and I couldn’t wait to see how it turned out. It is tight and fast-paced. Just as it begins to feel predictable, Louisa would throw the curve ball. I thought of many scenarios for the ending and didn’t even come close!

Danielle I just added a new shelf (though when you click on bookshelves it says there's none, but the are a couple trust me) with regency era-ish romances to while away the hours in case the power goes out, or you don't have to go in to work. It's also for those of you looking for the less paranormal stuff (which the other shelf I made is chock full of). Here's a link straight to the shelf:
