Books That Make a Statement discussion

I think that social issues books such as runaway,make strong statements. I love books that teach lessons, especially in the social issues, realistic fiction, historical fiction, and sci-fi. What books do you like?

i loved Runaway too!!! one of my favorite books i read was "what my mother doesn't know" its a book in verse.

I keep hearing about that book, can you summarize it for me? Do you think it made a "strong statement"?

"What my mother doesn't know" is a great book but it honestly is a book to read for fun and doesn't make a very strong statement.
