Ok, everybody!
The Maria V. Snyder signing is one week away. Even if you don't read her stuff and/or have no interest in attending the signing, I'd really appreciate it if you could help me publicize this, since I have a big fat goose egg budget for event marketing.
If you have friends/family who may enjoy SciFi/Fantasy and would like to attend a signing/talk/chocolate tasting--or if you have a place where local booklovers/geeks may see this poster i.e. library bulletin board, school/work etc.--please print a poster out and hang it up! Even if you can only print and put up one, that would still make a huge difference for me. Or just forward them this email! The poster is here: http://readnowsleeplater.com/?p=131 .
If you are attending the signing, here's what to expect:
Who: Maria V. Snyder, author of The Study Series
What: Signing her new novel, Storm Glass
Where: Borders Glendale, 100 S Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA 91204, tel 818 241 8099. Yes, we are still taking reservations.
When: Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Admission is free!
Sign in any time before 3 pm--if you are bringing in a copy of a book you already own, you will get a little bookmarker that says so. If you are one of the first 50 people to arrive, you get to participate in the "poison tasting" lesson - that's where the chocolate, or criollo for those of you in the know, comes in.
Maria will be doing a couple of contests--prizes include a set of the UK Study books, and a set of the YA cover books (and, if we can get it together in time, some t-shirts!)
3:00 pm - Introductions
3:15 pm - Poison Tasting (we promise not to kill you)
3:45 pm - Q & A
After Q & A, author will sign individual books--they do not have to be purchased at Borders, although that's pretty much the only place you'll be able to find Storm Glass prior to Apr 28.
After everyone's book is signed, Study Buddies (our GoodReads group), and anyone who wants to join us, will be hanging out in the SBC cafe until dinnertime! And the author is joining us, since she has really nowhere else to go/no place she'd rather be. ^_^
p.s. The signing on Sunday at Dark Delicacies has been canceled, but is replaced by an appearance at Upland Public Library.
Once more, I'd appreciate any action that can help spread the word! Forward email, repost file, or print out poster and stick it up somewhere--I'll take any help you can give me!
Thanks,
and see you at the signing!

Thank you, Maria and Althea for taking the time to make the book signing such a great experience with the Poison Tasting!

Yay! They were in the front row, I'll remember them! I'm so glad they had fun!

Uploading photos right now... Will post a link as soon as flickr finishes. That really was the best book signing ever. Thank you so much to the folks who came, we loved your company and participation!
The audio on my videos is kind of weird so I will probably not post them. If anyone else has photos/videos/audio, put them up or post a link!
If you need somewhere to post them, message me and I will make it happen.

It was wonderful to meet all the people I've been emailing over the years. The turnout was inspiring and I'm going to remember it when I sit down to write the 3rd glass book, which is giving me some trouble.
I'm going to look at photos, now - I hope Alethea caught my good side - which isn't a side at all - I'm better straight on ;>
I can't take any credit. Alethea did everything. All I did was show up.
Maria, the green minty chocolates are good!

So I'm gearing up for the event of the season, the Storm Glass book release party at my very own Borders Books & Music in Glendale, California.
I'm calling on all of you willing and able book commandos (sneak suit not mandatory) to help me promote the event and get as many fans to RSVP for the event as we can possibly find!
Not only is it going to be a great chance to meet other fans, eat criollo (oh yes, there will be criollo!), meet Maria and have her autograph your book--you also get your copy a few days earlier than most! The book has a soft launch date of April 28-May 1, and I'm going to be working with the nice folks at Mira to make sure we have our copies a few days in advance so that they are available for purchase on Saturday. Most bookstores won't have them until the following week!
If you'd like to help, message me.
You can also download PDFs of my flyers and posters for the event at my website: http://readnowsleeplater.com/?p=131
Even putting up 1 poster somewhere that book lovers, and in particular, Maria V. Snyder fans, can see it will help me out tremendously.
(About me: while I cannot claim to have zero conflict of interest in promoting this event through Study Buddies--far from it--after all, not only do I *want* Maria to sell a lot of books, it's also my job to sell them! ...I did start the group because I genuinely love the books and her writing, whether or not it is part of my livelihood. I wanted to have a place to endlessly chat about the books and other similar interests, and that is primarily what I hope you are here to do. Some folks I already knew, and some new acquaintances have expressed an interest in helping me promote this event and the group is also a handy-dandy way for me to communicate with them en masse. So please, don't feel obligated in any way to help, or buy, or attend anything! I am doing this for fun, and for Maria ^_^ and if you don't want to lift a finger to help, that's totally cool with me. It's enough for me that you read books, whoever wrote them or wherever you got them!)
If you are having a Storm Glass event in your area, let me know! I'll post up the event details on the Study Buddies group, as well as help you design and distribute (electronically, anyway) flyers and posters for your event.
