2. I do get tired of the Beauty and the Best theme mostly because it is usually done in the same way. Also because it seems that the majority of the time it is the woman as the beauty and the man as the beast.
I don't think this book was the typical Beauty and the Beast story. I felt it was more of cranky meets calm.
3. I like the romance, it thought it could have been better done with things like gestures of affection in a quite way from Piers. More tender moments would have helped as well. It almost came off as a case of lust more then love. I definitely felt the chemistry between them, but didn't really feel the love until the very end of the book.
4. I liked the witty banter and the smart ass sarcasm the best. The only thing I can complain about would be the pace. I felt that it was a little slow and dragged out at times.
5. Again the witty banter and sarcasm.
6. 4
7. Yes. It was a fun read!
I really liked the book , in fact i am loving the series so much I just bought all the books Lol.
It was very hilarious , esp the ruined because of a ballgown part , and loved the witty banter between the two :)

Liked both characters. Yes, I could see how Piers was compared to House. I was thinking the same thing by the way he was treating his patients.
2. Do you ever get tired of the Beauty and the Beast theme? Was this book a good example of the timeless appeal of this theme?
As long as the story is written properly I don't think I can get tired of the Beauty & the Beast theme. This book was okay of an example to the theme. There was nothing beastly about the H in the looks department... only with his personality and that's apparently b/c he's arrogant.
3. How did the romance hit you? Did you feel the chemistry and the love between Linnet and Piers?
Definitely saw the chemistry between the two characters.
4. What did you like best about this book? What did you like least?
I enjoyed the scarcastic humor in the book. That kept me in. Not sure what I liked least... the ending seemed kinda too easy. There was no resolve with the heronine's relationship with her father and aunt.
5. What really stood out to you in this story?
The conversions between the H/h
6. Overall rating out of 1-10 or out of 1-5 stars?
I rated this book 4 out of 5. It was my first Eloisa James book.
7. Would you recommend this book to other historical romance lovers?
Yes, this was a fun read.

2. I love the Beauty and the Beast theme - it hasn't gotten old for me yet.
3. I enjoyed the romance. Their witty and snarky verbal sparring was excellent and the steamy scenes for sensual and sexy.
4. My one small issue was with Linnet's father and aunt who were ridiculous caricatures but the rest of the secondary cast from the nosy butler to the endearing boy and his flea bitten dog were simply wonderful.
5. The swimming pool scenes.
6. 4.5 stars
7. Would definitely recommend it.

1. I did not catch the comparison to Gregory House but that is simply because I don't watch the show.
2. I love the Beauty and the Beast theme, pretty sure I will never tire of it.
3. I thought the romance was good, could certainly pick up on the chemistry, you could just tell that they were perfect for each other. Wish they had picked up on that earlier, but half the fun is knowing way before they do.
4. There was a lot that I liked about this book. One thing I did not like was Linnets father, he was just a little to self absorbed for me. Did he honesty think that he had his daughters best interest at heart? I suppose he thought he did.
5. Linnet's continuous effort to make the lives of the patients better.
6. A solid 4 out of 5.
7. I would recommend this book to other HR readers. I have a new author to read, Yay

I've made it to chapter 8, and so far this is the only Eloisa James book I've enjoyed, so horray!
(and I never get tired of the Beauty and the Beast theme either which is why after vowing to never to try to read James again, I picked this one up anyways)

1. Since the author herself made the comparison, I think yes, it is a fair to think along those lines.
2. No, I never get tired of the Beauty and the Beast theme which is why I gave this book a chance despite not enjoying Eloisa James in the past.
3. I enjoyed the romance between these to characters because their verbal sparing never really evolved into hopeless fawning (until maybe the epilogue), which was honestly refreshing. They paused a moment or two to be honest about their feelings with one another, but never got all mushy about it.
4. I like the Beauty and the Beast theme the best naturally. ;-P Despite enjoying the book, I still felt the writing was somehow stiff (which I've thought with other James books as well). Also, I almost wish the book would have ended with some scarring that Linnet learned to accept, maybe where leaches were placed...
5. What really stood out was "the Beast's" obvious compassionate and kind streak. He didn't have to help so many sick people, and I never once heard of any of the people he cared for paying for the doctor's services (other than Gavin's mom offering to help with a quilting circle).
6. I wish I could say 4.5 on GoodReads, so I'll take the opportunity to say 9 stars here.
7. Yes, I would recommend this book to other historical romance lovers.
8. Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed
The Merchant's Daughter
Both Beauty and the Beast themes. Seven Night's is obviously similar genre as well. Merchant's Daughter was the first "religious fiction" book I ever read, but I gave it a shot because I love the Beauty and the Beast theme, and it was honestly one of the best books I think I've read. The religious aspects are not at all preachy and basically just an undercurrent in the story.

Amazing picture Jennifer , it does totally remind you of the pool.

I totally got the "House" reference and laughed.
If your a romance reader I can't imagine you not liking James' writing. It's smart, sexy and unfailingly romantic. I'd recommend it. Maybe I don't love it as much as her Duchesses, but it is fun.
