That should be good, can't wait I loved that Book.thanks for sharing.
John Cusack as Clay? Sure, I'm fine with that.I wonder who'd play Tom and Alice.
Just imagine the pre movie trailer telling you to turn off your phones while in the theatre.
It has been so long since I read it I am coming up fuzzy characters, but I have really enjoyed Cusack in the other King movies so this should be exciting. I remember loving this book, it was the first King novel I read.

HA!

I didn't really care for this book when I first read it actually...but someday soon I want to give it a second chance. From what I recall though, I could see it making a pretty entertaining movie...maybe better than a novel.
I actually enjoyed CELL even though I had heard negative things about it from my sister. I'm looking forward to the movie.
Ryan Gosling. After seeong drive, I think he has a good range and would be a good fit. I also think James Marsden needs a look. Along with....still debating the female lead,, maybe the girl from Hannah.
I remember reading this book thinking it would make a good movie - King's take on a zombie film with the fun anti-technology bent. Cusack is always good...not sure who I would cast in other roles...
Well, here's a still from Cell, with Sam Jackson, John Cusack and Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan):http://www.imdb.com/media/rm402843161...
On Wikipedia it says that Miko Hughes (Pet Sematary) has been cast as Steve Maxwell. That's not confirmed on IMDb, but it would be interesting to see Miko return to Kingsville. Stacy Keach is playing Charles Ardai and Joshua Mikel (We're the Millers) is playing the Raggedy Man.
OMG Jackson as Tom would be great. I never imagined him as black, but that's the beauty of King's characters, they can be filled in. He gives you the bones. We the readers fill in the rest.I'm not often happy about King adaptations, but this one I want. :D
If anyone watches Chris Stuckmann on YouTube, he did a review for this movie. Spoiler alert: he didn't care for it...
I was going to order it through Comcast On Demand but they wanted more then the usual charge for a rental for it. I'll have to wait for Redbox/Netflix.
I watched it. It isn't like the book for the most part. They left a lot out like they usually do for movies. They also left out one of the major things that happened throughout the book. For most people, it just fell kinda flat and was disappointing.
The end of the movie was short and disappointing, but otherwise the movie blew me away. It's one of my all-time favorites now. I am reading only negative reviews and I wonder why. Has Stephen King become too much of a demi-god? Has he been too successful lately? (I don't mean to start a flare, just my two cents worth). Especially John Cusack was brilliant.
If you like your book based movies to be faithful to the book then you'll be disappointed but if you watch it just for the movies sake then you'll probably enjoy it. I did.
We watched this last night and I'm still not sure how I feel. The ending seriously made me think 'what the?' and then my husband and I had to go back and re-read the last chapter of the book just to try and get our head around what happened and what was so different.I don't know why but I feel that every movie that has been made from a King book just hasn't had anywhere near the ooomph that the book had.
I also think that if someone watched this without reading the book first they would probably like it.
I wonder if that has ever been discussed on these boards that the movies made from King books invariably disappoint somehow.
K. wrote: "I wonder if that has ever been discussed on these boards that the movies made from King books invariably disappoint somehow."We've definitely discussed it here. I think they mostly disappoint when there is a supernatural element. The adaptations that hit it out of the park are almost exclusively his "reality" tales. Cujo, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption: A Story from Different Seasons, Misery, etc.

Oh, i forgot about the Misery movie so i stand corrected because that is one that i think was done really well, mainly because of Kathy Bates' great performance. I have never seen Shawshank Redemption but keep meaning to and Cujo just terrified me.

Shawshank Redemption is an excellent movie. I have seen it many times.
I've never seen Dolores Claiborne, but some film critics say that it's the best movie made from a King film... another "reality" tale.
Nick wrote: "I've never seen Dolores Claiborne, but some film critics say that it's the best movie made from a King film... another "reality" tale."I was going to mention that one as well, but despite being popular with critics, I know a lot of people that did not like it. It belongs on the list! So does The Green Mile, in my opinion, despite the little bit of...otherness.
I finally saw this last night and was very, very underwhelmed. The things I enjoyed most about the book were changed for the movie. Also, I feel a little bad about this, but the actress that played Alice, Isabelle Furhman, was distracting for me because she also played Orphan. Sometimes recognizable cast is terrific, but other times I simply can't get past another character they've played. Is that me, or their acting ability?
This is a movie from the past! I am fairly certain that I ended up seeing this and from what I recall, I felt the same way as Kandice, underwhelmed by the whole thing. I guess I could re-watch it to see if my feelings are the same, it looks like YouTube has it for free.
Yes I watched this again not so long ago to see if I was still disappointed by it and unfortunately I was. When it came out my hopes were high. John Cusack , Samuel L. Jackson and Stephen King. You can’t go wrong with that right? I know this is a unpopular opinion but I actually really liked the book. It was one of my first Stephen King books and my introduction to “zombies”.
I think when the film came out the whole premise wasn’t really relevant anymore and I think it would have had more an impact if it was released not long after the book came out.

Super science-fiction-y, less horror. I think the fact that so many people went in expecting a zombie book is why a lot of people were disappointed. If they had gone in blind, I'm positive this would have been better received and gotten better reviews.
I'm glad I'm not the only one here that liked it, though!
I liked the book too. I would LOVE if they made a really good movie based on it but it seems good King movies are rather fleeting.
Erin wrote: "I liked the book too. He makes you believe it as you are writing, but making you believe what you see is hard because most of the belief on the page comes from the way he writes background stories and feelings. They just don't translate well to the screen. They come across as cheezy.

For sure, the Dark Tower movie is a prime example of cheese.
Tonya wrote: "Amen about the Dark Tower. It did not do the book any kind of justice."It was a dark day when that was released.
I watched that Cell movie - I wasn't impressed. I loved the book though but just something about the movie didn't resonate within me anything that would make me think that movie was great. I thought as well with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson that the movie would be good but there was just something about it that the movie didn't give me the same "heebie jeebies" that the book gave me. The book scared me senseless and I was wary about my phone after reading the book for weeks.

I know bigger budget/bigger stars don't always translate to better but I definitely think this book deserves another shot of a more improved movie.
Erin wrote: "I would love it if they remade the movie. What are the odds of them remaking it using the same actors? I can only wish.
Kandice wrote: "Erin wrote: "I would love it if they remade the movie. I guess a remake/reboot would just be wishful thinking, at this point.
