The Black Prism and it's recently released sequel The Blinding Knife have both instantly shot on to my shelf of favorites. I am literally - by that I, of course, mean figuratively - salivating at the thought of the third installment.

Thoughts?

Andrew I too thought it was a phenomenal book. My only issue now is thinking how Weeks can top The Blinding Knife in books 3 and 4. Here's my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/450911457

Matt | 3 comments I agree with all the above comments. This series is my favorite since I read the Mistborn series by Sanderson! I flew through Black Prism in less than a week and the Blinding Knife in about 10 days.....now, I just hate waiting!!

John Gregory Wynn | 4 comments I am currently listening to the Graphic Audio version of Black Prism. You should all check it out.

So when do we think book 3 is out? Know he has finished the book and is currently editing it. He mentioned next summer for the release date but hope a little sooner than that.

Keron Kinara-williams (keronkinara) | 1 comments I've just read "The Blinding Knife" and thought it was really good. I thought that the Gavin guile storyline was an annoying red herring. I mean it didn't really amount to anything in the end?
What're your thoughts on the lightbringer and white luxin?
Also, what do you think the mirror saw about Kip, before dying?

Obaid Haroon | 4 comments I think Kip is the lightbringer. What that means I have no clue but I think it's leading that way. Some sort of luxin genius.

White luxin is supposed to be a myth so apart from The Whites reaction to it there isn't much we can go on.

I think the knife is the weapon OF the lightbringer, ie only he can use it properly. Andross Guile said he's seen that knife kill before yet every time Kip stabs a human with it they lose some or all of their drafting.

So I think it's all about the freeing. Originally the idea was to use the Blinding Knife on people who were about to break the halo and take their drafting away but it's been mistranslated to mean being killed by a normal knife. But that's just a theory.

Donna | 5 comments I am wondering how Brent if/will restore Gavin's abilities? Does the knife go both ways, can is restore and well as rip your colour from you?

Obaid Haroon | 4 comments I don't think he will. I think Gavin's time as the prism is done. Third book will be all chaos as the power vacuum goes crazy.

I think the nature of the knife is "you've drafted honourably all your life. Now be blessed with a perfectly normal life"

And yet it seems to be slowly draining Gavin's drafting but Andross got a halfway reset on his. So you never know.

Kenneth Geary (KagedBooks) (kagedbooks) | 2 comments I just hate the ending, i know it had to end somewhere but seriously right in the middle of everything, most stories try and wrap up at least some of the plot line this one just was like suprise it's the end.

Abnel | 6 comments This series is awesome. He used real world color theory to create the magic of drafting. Weeks really did his homework for this one.

I do agree with the theories here.

1) Kip is the Lightbringer. Up until now it is what everything has pointed towards. Him being nicknamed "Breaker", the knife/sword seeming to be inexplicably drawn to him, when the card maker had been trying to see him as the next Prism, but was unable to do so for some reason, and she states he sees him drafting all 11 colors, only the Lightbringer can do that. All of these point to him being the Lightbringer. That having been said, Weeks just loves curve balls so it could easily turn out to be someone else.

2) I doubt Gavin will regain his normal drafting again. It's gone and he's now color blind. When the seer saw him dying, she really saw when he gets stabbed and falls overboard and assumed he dies, she had no way of confirming Gavin was actually dead. I do expect, nay hope, that we will read of Gavin learning, and mastering, how to draft white and, possibly, black luxin.

3) Agree with the actual way the Freeing is supposed to be performed. Even though I hadn't thought of this before it seems perfectly fitting to me for those details to have been lost in time, along with the knife and the fact that the Lightbringer would actually return some day.

Aren | 6 comments I like how Brent effortlessly showcases both sides of the rebellion that makes it really feel like can go with either choice.

Josh Laird (jbmlaird) | 1 comments Interesting thoughts in this thread. Blinders Knife meant to be used in the Freeing is genius and explains why it exists in the first place. Drafting white luxin seems to be a big deal and we see very few mentions of white luxin weapons. Perhaps white luxin always involves a transfer of power?
