You guys might remember that at last month's TAG meeting I mentioned that the library will be getting a new computer system. This system controls the catalog that you use to find books, the library's check out/check in, our ability to place holds, and more. I'll give you guys updates on what's happening with the new system here in this thread.

Don't forget that the last day that you can place holds before the new system goes live will be November 7. That day is coming up fast! The hold system is basically going to be on "pause": No new holds can be placed, and no old holds will be coming in. Don't worry: If you are currently on hold for something you will still keep you place on the hold list. The list just won't move until the new system goes live.

From November 7-27, the only way to find a book/movie/CD/magazine will be to simply check the shelves to see if it is available.

This week the library will go completely offline as we get ready to "go live" with our new computer system! There will not be any sort of catalog, so the only way to find a book will be to physically go and check the shelves. If you check out items, they won't appear on your account until after we go live. We are still unable to place holds. Please be patient with us during this time!

I think that everyone has had a couple of days to check out the new catalog. Isn't it great? If you ever have questions about the catalog or how to manage your account, feel free to ask.
