My favorite series (Homecomming, by Orson Scott Card) just got made into Audio this past year. I was THRILLED until I heard them. The narrator (Stefan Rudnicki) is one who I usually like, but for some reason listening to him read these is almost painful. I still do it, just because they're some of my favorite stories and hearing them aloud is still interesting but - ick! I wish he'd gotten someone else to do them. So, if I had my wish I'd want the same series but narrated by someone else. Actually author narrated would be my first choice (he's actually pretty good at it) but second would be his daughter, Emily Card.
My vote for an audio book right at this moment would be for Interview with the Vampire Unabridged on CD. I cannot find this anywhere and I wouldn't care who narrated it so long as it isn't Flo Gibson.
Jared Diamond, Collapse, unabridged.
Unabridged Pippy Longstocking books,
Call Me Princess
by Sara Blaedel, and, finally,
The Forest of Hours
by Kerstin Ekman.Yes, I'm on a Scandinavian/Nordic kick, and I never read Pippi as a child, much to my shame.
If you like Scandinavian authors you must check out Den Vita Stenen, in English The white stone! Every Swede has read The Wonderful Adventures of Nils. You are certainly busy posting on this group.....
Chrissie wrote: "If you like Scandinavian authors you must check out Den Vita Stenen, in English The white stone! Every Swede has read The Wonderful Adventures of Nils...."Is there an English audio version of this?
When I join a group, I usually start with the old posts first to see if there is anything interesting, to gauge the tone of the group, and to ensure any posts I may make have not already been covered and are likely to bore the membership. Aside from that, I had an hour's downtime at work. ;-)
Vicki wrote: "I love cozy mysteries so I would be voting for a few good series that are not in audio production."Yes, I yearn for the whole Martha Grimes Richard Jury series, which I think are only available abridged if at all.
Is there anyway one can search one's Audible Wish list? Is it possible to put them in alphabetical order by author's name? I have so many listed that I cannot find what I am looking for very easily.
My vote would be for R. Scott Bakker's The Prince of Nothing and Aspect-Emperor series. Loved the books and was disappointed to find no audio versions of them were available.
I would be happy with Lloyd James or Michael Kramer as narrator.
I have been *dying* for Hallowed by Cynthia Hand to come out on audiobook. Hand's first book, Unearthly was read by Samantha Quan and I thought she did a fine job.I really want to see Jessica Andersen's "Nightkeepers" series come out on audiobook. I think a male narrator ... maybe Holter Graham?
I would also love to see "The Adept" series by Katherine Kurtz and Deborah Turner Harris come out in audiobook. Definitely needs a male narrator, and one who (sorry Gavin!) can do an honest-to-goodness Scottish accent.

Click on any of those headings and it will sort them for you. (eg. Click on author and it will sort them alphabetically by the author). Hope this helps :D
Nikki, thank you. I should have figured that out myself. I have been paging through all the titles!!!!
Actually right after Amazon bought audible they took away the sort feature for quite a long time. Seems like almost a year or so it was gone(give or take). I remember being quite annoyed and wrote them about it. But a some months ago, they finally added that sorting ability back. I do wish they'd let you filter it though. That would be a nice addition to sorting. Back on topic .... I'd like to see Audible make some of the Frank Yerby books available in audio format. I'm very happy they have started putting out Cynthia Harrod-Eagles books in the the "Morland Dynasty" series.
Chrissie wrote: "Do these messages get back to Audible?"The only way they would get back to Audible is if there is a staff member from Audible on Goodreads who is following the discussions.

If we have an Audible employee in our group, I don't believe they've identified themselves. When I originally created the Audiobooks group I wrote to the founder of Audible, Don Katz, to tell him about Goodreads and the Audiobooks group but never received a response. Maybe its time to try again.
Chrissie wrote: "Janice and Grumpus, I was just curious."It's a good question and a good reminder for me to try again to see if he could have an identified employee represent the company. I think it would make good business sense for them.
Grumpus, it certainly would. It is also important that more audio books are made available not only in the US but Europe too. When I request a book, I always have to point out to them that I live in Belgium. A site like GR emphasizes the ridiculousness of publishing agreements that are not worldwide.

Well at least half my wish has come true. R. Scott Bakker's Prince of Nothing trilogy is now available at Audible. It's narrated by David DeVries.
That's me happy.
I would have Jeremy Irons read every book ever written. Sport books, novels, cook books, manuals, everything!
Chrissie wrote: "If you haven't listened to Jeremy Irons' narration of Lolita - you must do it NOW! Fantastic."This has been in my Audible wishlist for a long time, and has gradually made it's way to the top of my list! I've got a couple of other things I may get to first, but I bought it in the "use 4 credits" sale last week and I'll get to this (finally) before summer's out.
Re: LolitaReagan, superb writing. Wonderful narration. You (almost) believe what H says........ you almost see it from his pov. Almost - your have to tell yourself to keep thinking straight. There are wonderful lines in French. And you will laugh, even if you cringe that you are laughing.

My library had it, but I'm not sure why it's not showing up now...

If you really need CDs, it's probably easiest to just download and then burn the CDs yourself.
Mejix wrote: "I would have Jeremy Irons read every book ever written. Sport books, novels, cook books, manuals, everything!"Scott Brick isn't bad either.
I'm longing for audio for The Fools' Guild series by Alan Gordon, beginning with "The Thirteenth Night". I managed to read the first in print but my aged eyes tire fast. Lloyd James, Simon Vance, Grover Gardener would be super but most readers are excellent. I begged the publisher and received a polite but noncommittal reply.

It's always surprising that such popular books aren't available.
I would love to see book 2 in Karin Slaughter's Grant County series (Kisscut) - it is available through audible in the UK, but I can only find the abridged CD's in the US

I'd have to vote for Scott Brick to finish reading the Joe Pitt series by Charlie Huston: Half the Blood of Brooklyn and Every Last Drop. I've listened to the first two and I need the others now. I want them so badly I even emailed Scott Brick and asked if they were on his upcoming schedule. They aren't. *sighs*
Then I'd have Michael Kramer read the lastest Felix Castor book by Mike Carey, Dead Men's Boots.
