One nomination, please, pick one.
By the way, are you sure that Savages can go with children/young adult fiction? I haven't read the book, so I do not know, but on the first glance, it doesn't seem so :/

MatildaI would like to nominate Matilda (by Roald Dahl), I think this is one of the most fascinating adaptions ever, especially considering the fact they Americanized it.
Svevida wrote: "Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater - movie's on the way, so you're right on time to read the book first."
I am sorry, but it can't be taken in consideration, not yet at least, because, according to the latest news I could find, they have just finished the screenplay, and the current release date is 2014 :/

I second Lord of the Flies, although frankly, considering the content, it's not really a children's book. A Wrinkle in Time would be good, too.
@Zeljka ... thanks for the news (God, who'll wait 2 more years x)But it's no problem, I already have another suggesion:
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
I just love it! :)
The lion the witch & the wardrobe
Valeria wrote: "I nominate Breaking Dawn part 1"
Didn't know they separated the book in two parts :\ Now the question is - should we read the fourth part before the first three of them :) Well, it is not against the rules, so it qualifies :)

Referring to book publishers, not filmmakers ;)

@Ellen... Thanks, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" sounds interesting. I marked it 'to read', now I just have to find me a copy before I watch the movie :)
Lisiamei wrote: "
A Series of Unfortunate EventsI just love Jim Carrey in this movie too!"
I love the books as well and the movie was amazing
Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson. Not usually my cup of tea, but I fell in love with the story from the off. A great read.

"Ah great book! Can't wait for the movie and am willing to read again! AMAZING!
Mercy, no more! We already have 15 16 eligible nominations! For others, notes here:
Jessie wrote: "I am an old fashion girl and intend to read this during December anywho so my suggestion is A Christmas Carol"
If you don't mind, I would rather put this nomination into Quick Reads, due to its length seems more appropriate there. I love the story, have read it numerous times :)

I couldn't find the movie based on the book, was there any? Please, post the link if there is, otherwise can't be considered.

Having second thoughts, now I really think we shouldn't read the last book if we haven't read any before. Twilight as the first part was nominated, so will have its chance in the poll. Of course, if you wish, you may review the last part (or all of them if you like) in the folder Coffee & TV. The whole series for itself would make good topic for discussion.
Lisi wrote: "The Bad Beginning A Series of Unfortunate Events..."
Good choice, the only problem is that the movie refers to the first three books in the series, so technically we would have to read them all to watch the movie. So, I'll add The Ominous Omnibus as your nomination.
Angela wrote: "I nominate The Hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkien. I assume this counts..."
Yes, it counts very much :)
Didn't think it would come to this, but we'll have to conclude the nominations and narrow the selection by making a second confirmation for them, here are all of them:
War Horse -- confirmed
Youth in Revolt -- confirmed (by me now, Cera is too cute to pass ;)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower -- confirmed
The Lovely Bones -- confirmed
Twilight -- confirmed (due to the other nomination)
Five Children And It
Lord of the Flies -- confirmed
Matilda
Coraline -- confirmed
A Wrinkle in Time
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Ominous Omnibus -- confirmed
It's Kind of a Funny Story -- confirmed
The Hunger Games
Charlotte's Web
The Hobbit -- confirmed
The Neverending Story -- confirmed
So, please, if you like other suggestions than those already confirmed, second them - but only if you haven't already supported other nominations :)

I will 2nd The Hobbit I have been wanting to read that one, but then it seems I keep putting it off for other things.
Aww, man! I wanted to nominate The Neverending Story. But, to second something, I'm torn. It's Kind of a Funny Story was a great movie and I'd love to read that, but I'd also love to reread A Wrinkle in Time. I will second It's Kind of a Funny Story, since I haven't read that yet!
I second The Hobbit. It is a book I have been meaning to read it for ages now, and finally have it on my shelf.

Aw. Maybe I am getting softer in my older age, but if somebody else agrees too, The Neverending Story may enter the competition ;)
Everyone -- check the list in the message #46 (to not repeat it again ;) -- updated now.

I really did not like it and that probably has to do with the fact that I had to read it for school so it took the fun out of reading it!! I'll bring it for you this weekend when I come home
If it's not too late, I would also like to vote or nominate War Horse.

Oh yes the Hobbit would be very good too.

I want to nominate The Hobbit since Peter Jackson's version will be released in December to the theater.
The only books that need to be seconded (to get on the poll) are the ones on the list in message #46 that don't say "confirmed" next to them! ;-)
Ill second the never ending story, not read this before!

Rules as usual - nominate only books adapted on the screen - with addition of the new one - only one nomination per member as we are a bit larger group now. The thread is open for this week only, after which we go to the voting :)
