I'm not much on glass cutting, but I've had to do it at times. I found the cheap ones at the hardware store last for just a few straight cuts & then are worthless. I bought a $20 one years ago that still works fine & has a thicker handle, about an inch in diameter. That makes a huge difference in the amount of steady pressure you can keep on the cut, especially when doing curves.
One trick with any of them is to dip it in a bit of oil before using it. Apparently that helps the edge a LOT. That's my sum total of knowledge on the subject, though.
My wife & daughter know a bit more. They took a class together & each made a sun catcher. They were quite pretty.
