Sam all the way you guys.A bit of romance is ok but I just hope the whole series won't be about who ends up with who. That being said, the romance in The Diviners is adorable.
Also, did I mention I like Sam for Evie? :))
I'd prefer Jericho with Evie. The "bad boy" as the love interest is way too cliched now and I feel that Jericho's back story is more interesting and he is sweet.
I do love Jericho, but I am Team Sam all the way.The other love stories are great as well in this book and I can not wait to see how more of the character's lives and abilities connect and intertwine. I bet there will be someone perfect for Jericho. he is just to serious and to troubled to be with evie who is full of life and spunk.
I'd prefer Jericho with Evie. The "bad boy" as the love interest is way too cliched now and I feel that Jericho's back story is more interesting and he is sweet.Sam definitely has a story behind him as well; one which we will discover more of in the next installment. However, I'd love it if the rest of the books have teensiest nit of romance as well.
Jericho Jericho Jericho!! OMG love that guy!!! Jericho! How many times can i say that!
Okay, I did not see Jericho as a potential love interest until it was basically spelled out when he watches her in her nightgown. I was so hardcore into Sam/Evie, I thought their dialogue was crisper and more compelling. Jericho, be still my beating heart, was a doll, but it felt rushed. Once he was falling over himself asking Evie out, I felt more pity than longing. Sam I just wanted Evie to get in bed with. Then he sort of fell off the book and Jericho took his place. I assume in one draft they were the same character, in a weird way, and would have worked that way. But I love each other them separately. But I have a sneaking suspicion Jericho is not the one she ends up with. I'd be happy with it, he's sweet and sexy and has a dark enough past to make him really fascinating. I just felt Sam suited Evie better. Love both guys. I'd have a damn hard time choosing between them.

Then with the beginning of his POV the author just drops it and I think oh, dear Sam- now you're all mine.

The couple I'm mostly interested in is Theta and Memphis not only cause I think they are cute together but a black and white combo at that would have been so scandalous lol I love them too together and I hope nothing happens to poor Isiah :(
TEAM SAM!!! He's a cute, funny, sweet and deep down below that cool exterior he really does care about Evie, and I think she cares about him more too. Because even though SPOILER she and Jericho kissed she said she needed it then and kinda admitted she didn't have strong feelings for him
It is honestly a really difficult choice for me. I wasn't expecting the romance at all in the book. Both Sam and Jericho's interest in Evie came as a surprise to me. Sam, because I wasn't sure if he was going to be a main character after meeting Evie for the first time; and Jericho, despite him not being interested in Mabel, I didn't think he'd develop romantic feelings for Evie so soon. (Sam was the more obvious one all along, though.)To be honest, I was all about Sam/ Evie with their little moments. (I especially loved it when he went after her after she got upset with Jericho telling her, 'Sorry. You're… not what I thought you were' or something like that.) I am somewhat convinced they are going to have a thing at some point in the rest of the series.
I honestly ship both, and I'd actually like to learn more about the characters before determining who's better for who. I want to see where the love triangle goes, but as for now, I love both.

Jericho's scenes with her started out slow, but when they did pick up it was very compelling. Both of them were a good fit for her, in different ways. But i do feel she's going to use Jericho and it's going to bite everyone in the ass.

Like you said, in different ways, but regardless of who she picks, I'll most likely be happy with her decision. And I think similarly. I feel like she's just going to use him for the meantime (for comfort mainly - she said she wanted to 'forget') and then she'll leave him because of Mabel. When riding the ferris wheel, she said pointing was rude, but so was holding the hand of the boy her best friend fancied. Even when they kissed for the first time, her first thought (or second) was Mabel. You're right-ski, it's gonna pos-i-tute-ly bite everyone in the ass.
I too saw Sam as the obvious love interest at first. Although that was too predictable for me, I thought that he and Evie really had that special spark of chemistry through the whole book. I never suspected Jericho would become interested in Evie and when he started to show signs I just wasn't behind that because I didn't think he had any chemistry with Evie.Well, all of that changed when he tells her about his past. At first I kind of wrinkled my nose at his far fetched 'secret'. I thought it didn't fit at all with the rest of the book, and like this was just a tactic to make the reader feel more emotion for him. Well call me a sucker because the more I thought about what he was, it went from weird to fascinating. His appeal to me came on very suddenly and strongly after that. I am seriously shipping him and Evie right now. I think Evie's feelings aren't super deeply developed yet, but I do think she connects with him because she considered herself a freak for so long and sees that as something in common with him. So I think she's genuine.
That said, I also came to like Sam more as the story went on and I think he's going to come out stronger in the next book.
This is a hard one, I have a feeling the author is all for Jericho, especially toward the end of the book, but then I think Sam/Evie is a lot more natural and genuine. At the moment, I just don't feel any spark between Jericho and Evie that's not forced by the author but in later installments, the character of Jericho might become more "human" and not so machine like, then romance between Jericho and Evie might be more realistic. Regardless, I like Sam and even if he doesn't end up with Evie, I hope he will find his true love :D After all, Sam's my favorite character in the book !
I actually kind of feel like something bad might happen to Mabel, which means I think Evie might end up with Jericho because he's better at comforting her.
Here's what I think:Jericho and Evie, BUT something happens to Jericho and he dies. Evie eventually ends up with Sam in her time of need.

NOO! We do not speak of MY Jericho dying! I like them both! Jericho seems like the obvious choice from the end of the book, and I don't know about rebellious girl + bad boy equaling a happy ending.
Team JerichoWell at the beginning i thought Evie was for Memphis I thought somehow they were gonna cross paths.that was funny lol...
I started shipping Evie w/ Jericho when he acted jealous of Sam when they first met. That was him showing emotion and it was so cute. And Evie and Jericho are opposites that they balance each other out.
I like both Jericho and Sam... I like all the characters in this book! The romance in this book is not that important to me (although I like Evie and Jericho). I read for the storyline and mystery.
Sam definitely! When the Jericho/Evie thing started happening at the end, I was so confused, because it seemed awkward and I didn't even realize at all that it started happening. Sam and Evie are so alike and they have a lot of chemistry, I hope they end up together!
Like many others here have said I really like both Sam and Jericho, but for me personally I prefer her relationship with Jericho to her relationship with Sam.Also I don't really think the relationship from Jericho was really all that sudden. It was subtle, sure, but little hints were dropped throughout the book from the moment Sam noticed Jericho blush when he suggested that Jericho and Evie were married. Regardless, I enjoy all the characters and I'm interested to see what'll happen to them next.
Jericho, obviously. Sam is not only gross for forcing a kiss on Evie when they first met, but there was zero chemistry between them. From the moment we were introduced to Jericho I was positive he'd turn out to be a love interest, and I liked the yearning he felt for Evie, and the confused feelings she has for him at the end of the book.
I don't think his feelings for her were there all of a sudden, there were little hints throughout the book that he had a crush on her.
Love me some Jericho. I think he would be the best for Evie. They could have fun but he would be able to protect her and help her calm down when she needed to. And they understand each other the most. I love Sam, but his first impression was a bit rocky. Maybe that will change in the next book.I am excited to see how Mabel and that new guy interact though. And I love Theta and Memphis together!
I just really loved Sam and Evie's dynamic. They were so fiesty and they fit together so well, and then he was there for her. Jericho kind of came out of nowhere and while it was sweet, it felt a little awkward and just not... right to me.I was like LIBBA BRAY WHY YOU PLAY WITH MY FEELS
I loved the chemistry between Sam and Evie. For some reason, Jericho and Evie kind of came out of nowhere for me. I really like Jericho as a character though. I think in the next book there'll be more of a development on the Sam and Evie relationship.
Team Sam. Jericho came out of nowhere, and is rude to Mabel. He seems more like a fatherlike character than a lover. I also love the love-hate relationship between Sam and Evie, it's so cute. I ship them to the max!
I honestly have a tough time choosing. At first it was Team Sam all the way and wasn't really expecting Jericho to pop up as a love interest and didn't think I would like that possibility. But Libba Bray just developed their relationship so well and I do feel for Jericho...Gaaah, so far Jericho seems to be leading in the polls and the book....but I'm still Team Sam:) Its just that mischevious charm; its like Kryptonite to me:P. Also even though its a cliche, I love the love-hate dynamic b/t Sam and Evie. Its always a winner with me.
...What about Evie's friend who also has a crush on Jericho? Just to heartbreaking. But still, i think that Jericho and Evie are the est couple. Sam a bit too into investigating his mum's whereabouts.
I guess we'll find out how it develops. As with Mabel, I do feel for the poor girl but you can tell Mabel doesn't really have any deep feelings for Jericho. I forgot what chapter goes into it but it explained how Mabel really only wants Jericho to verify her own worth. That's not love; its just your everyday high school crush from a insecure girl.No matter b/c as we learned in the end, there seems to be another romantic possibility for Mabel in the works. So I'm not too worried about her yet.
What about Sam and Mabel? Would that be too gross/tidy? Also what did we think of the other romance between Theta and Memphis?
xenu01 wrote: "What about Sam and Mabel? Would that be too gross/tidy? Also what did we think of the other romance between Theta and Memphis?"Oh, no! Not Mabel and Sam. I would lose all respect for this story if Bray pulled something so convenient and cliched like that. It wouldn't make any sense at all! Bray would have to write her butt off in order to make that believable, but honestly I don't think its possible.
I'd believe in a friendship b/t the two, but definitely not a romance.
Theta and Memphis were cute. However as I read more of Memphis, I found him to be the least intriguing character of the bunch. It'll be interesting to see how their romance turns out.
Ship Sam all the way even when I already knew he was going to pick Evie's pocket. Jericho is just....kinda creepy to me I guess sorry to all the ones who ship him.Memphis and Theta was so sweet.
But overall I think that everyone but probably least of all the love interests are underdeveloped
Right now I'll say Team Jericho, I don't feel like I know Sam well enough to fully trust him. At this point I feel like he'd do whatever he had to do to get to his Mother. I think he'd betray Evie and Will to get where he needs to go, I think he would still steal from them or whatever, if an opportunity came up where he had to betray them to get to his Mother, I think he would do it.But there's a lot of room for relationship/character development there and I did like the playful bantering between Evie and Sam.
Uhmm, I guess Sam? Even though he's addicted to stealing. In a way it seems like Evie is to fast-paced with Jericho and would soon get bored with him, but on the other hand it seems like he'd be perfect for her to keep her balanced and maybe think for her sometimes because she likes to jump right into things. But...once again theres Sam....I just really dont know maybe my opinion can clear up in the next book.
Maddie wrote: "Okay, I did not see Jericho as a potential love interest until it was basically spelled out when he watches her in her nightgown. I thought Jericho's attraction towards Evie was very subtly handled. Bray kept dropping the tiniest hints here and there of his growing affection towards her. He blushed when Sam asked if he and Evie were married. Jericho was smug about punching Sam in the face after visiting the KKK site. And then he had attempted to ask Evie out TWICE but was constantly interrupted. lol. It was adorable.

I agree and I really thought Mabel was going to be good with Jericho but he acted so much like a douche that I can't blame her if she never likes him or want to be near him. Anyways to me Sam is more suited like i say the guy who meet and kiss the girl get her and im not just saying because if you notice the girl fall for the guy they kiss first. Also Sam got glamour that Jericho don't have also Evie is less in love with Jericho because she treats him more like a friend and comes to him when she has a problem. While sam and evie seems more natural and they enjoy each other presence and for my own selfish needs i deeply enjoy there love hate relationship.
