Dare to Dream discussion

Okay, now that I have your undivided attention, here's the scoop.

I'm sure you all know that being a new, unheard-of author can be a difficult thing. Nobody knows who you are, and people are wary of reading your work because they have no idea what to expect. "Does their writing stink?" they may ask. "Will this novel scare me?" "What in the world is a Christian suspense novel?" "What if the author is really a serial killer who wants to eat my liver with fava beans?"

Okay, maybe people don't ask themselves that last question (or do they?), but you get the idea. Being new is rough. I know it is, because [SPOILER ALERT!!!] I'm a new author.

Fortunately, I have been blessed with an amazing support group. Facebook refers to them simply as "likes." But I don't see "likes;" I see human beings (and the occasional monkey--you know who you are) who are with me on this journey of writing. So far they number 397, which amazes me. Think about it: a room full of 397 people is going to be packed. If I were speaking in front of those 397 people, I would probably freak out and say something absurd, which isn't unheard of since I have the social skills of a turkey.

I am immensely grateful to those 397 people--two of whom are me, but that's another story--for taking the time to follow and support me in this endeavor. It's been great getting to know some of them as friends.

To show my gratitude for the 397, I would like to do a giveaway. I'm not sure what I will be giving away, but I know that it will be special. HOWEVER, I would prefer to conduct this giveaway when three more people step up and turn the 397 into the 400. Can we do this? I think so. All you need to do is go to www.facebook.com/jsbaileywrites and click the "like" button. Easy, peasy, right?

Update: Facebook has just informed me that we are now the 398. Pretty cool how people know what's going on before I've even posted this. ;)
