Welcome to the Forgotten Realms and the world of Abeir-Toril! Feel free to introduce yourself!

I am the Sage of Souls, Guardian of Lost Souls.

To anyone who joins at this point, I sent out invitations at 11:50 PM, having finished everything for the characters and Baulder's Gate, so the group isn't fully complete, yet, but there's still a good variety of places to start out while I finish up the rest of the areas. Others areas I'll have include Neverwinter, Lusken, Uthgarde, Candlekeep, and many others, as well as forests and mountain ranges, including Moonwood and the Spine of the World, so don't worry about there no being enough places to go to. I'll start working on Neverwinter tomorrow after school, but feel free to get started if you want to. :) And welcome to all who join with this first wave of invitations!

Amir is a ßø≤≤ | 138 comments Hey. I got the invite. And, If you need help, I could Alwas make topics and such to get this rp up and running.

Hey, Amir, welcome. This is the group I was working on and, no, this isn't the group I was going to make where we combine our lore and make up a storyline together--this is a different group.

This group, as indicated, is an ADVANCED roleplay, so it won't be as conventional as other groups we're in, and will have many more rules to follow in terms of how the roleplay works, so please make sure you've read the information provided. And, though this is a Fantasy, Action/Adventure-type roleplay, it is not like the others we're in, where you can have insanely powerful characters that can fly and have extremely "unique" weapons. This group has it's own set of ways as to how battle works and how weapons and armor are set up. So, again, please make sure you've read up on all of the information I have provided.

But, anyway, I'll make a character in a bit and start roleplaying with you, so just hang tight for a bit.

Also, it might help if you read up a bit of more detailed information on the Forgotten Realms wiki sight; it can offer a lot more insight as to what the Forgotten Realms are than I can and give you a better understanding as to what this group is like and how it will work.

message 5: by Nobody (new)

Nobody Hey, it's Nobody. I also got the invite. I also ... don't know anything about D&D. O_O I'll look it up and read a lot about it, so hopefully I won't mess up too bad!

Sage of Souls (sageofsouls) | 264 comments Mod
Hey, nobody! :) Don't worry about knowing too much; just read the information I have posted and follow the guidelines for making your character, then the rest of the roleplay is simple. :) Though this group is in the Fantasy genre, somewhat, it's more of a Medieval Action/Adventure-type roleplay than a full-blown Fantasy roleplay, so you can't be extremely powerful and your power and abilities are more limited to real life-type abilities (for non-spellcaster-type classes, of course) and simplified, controlled, understandable spells, like a Fireball or Restoration, as opposed to mass destruction spells, like blowing up an entire city, unlike my group, The Sin War RP, where power and abilities are more free and open to the imagination, so you'll just need to understand the different levels of power in this group. What might be normal or average power in a true Fantasy-type roleplay may be considered overpowered in this group. That's really the only other thing you need to watch out for. But, either way, welcome! :)

Excellent, glad you have some familiarity with it. I'm actually playing through the first Neverwinter Nights again, since, when I was younger, we lost the data, I never got to finish. I'm already on the last expansion, Hordes of the Underdark, and on chapter two, so I'm happy. :) I'm a Level 15 Wizard, Level 5 Cleric, Level 1 Fighter. I love that combination because it's so overpowered. The Fighter class gives you the ability to wear heavy armor and use exotic weaponry, the Cleric class gives you the ability to heal yourself, and the Wizard has overpowered spells, as well as defensive abilities. AND, if you get the Still Spell feat, you can cast all the spells you want without dealing with Arcane Spell Failure! XD It's so great!

Rinofthemill | 37 comments Hey, I'm Rhiannon, and I was invited here by my brother.
i've heard alot about this roleplay, and about SageofSouls. it's funny, because i first introduced my brother to roleplaying, but lately he's been doing it even more than i. actually, i've fallen out of practise recently. i've played dungeons and dragons, baulder's gate but i kept dying, and neverwinter nights 2 but for some reason the game kept glitching on me (it never helps when Okku levels up backwards) so i know a little more than others on the forgotten realms. not so much as my brother, perhaps, but i'm not a complete novice either. i've been on advanced roleplays before, and i really hope i can be a valuable addition to the group.
has… my brother not introduced himself on here? it doesn't matter- he'll be over the moon to see i've finally accepted his invitation and posted on here. i think i've finally remembered how to roleplay again- and enjoy it ^_^
i'm not sure what the point was… but hi- it's nice to meet you all

message 23: by Sage of Souls (new)

Sage of Souls (sageofsouls) | 264 comments Mod
Rhiannon, are you going to do anything here? I'm purging our current member list so I can get an accurate count of active members. I don't want to remove you, since you're Joe's brother and Joe's been active (the only other one other than me active recently), so I didn't want to remove you. I normally don't make exceptions, but someone as loyal to the group as your brother would hold a good reputation for recruitment and recommendations, so I'm not going to boot you...at least, not yet. If you're not going to do anything, then I will just for an accurate count. Nothing personal against either of you two; I just need to know how many people are actually going to be loyal to this group and know whether or not if this group is going to die. So I apologize in advance if that offends either of you, but I'm not trying to be mean in any way about it.

Also, Amir, where the heck did you go? You just disappeared one day. Are you still on Goodreads or have you left us altogether?

message 24: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 98 comments I for one love this group, and my sisters been off the goodreads radar for a while now, personal reasons. I've been trying to get her back on and I doubt she would take offense. No idea where Amir is.

Also, you said you would make another charrie to match Trealith, do you still plan on doing this?

Yes, just give me until this weekend because things should calm down by then. I still need to finish up my powerpoint for my Senior Presentation project, which I present tomorrow (so I really shouldn't even be on here), so I'll get to making the character afterwards. Sorry it's been taking so long, but my senior year has proven to be more hectic than I originally thought it would be.

i'm really sorry!!! i had every every single intent to roleplay on here but i just haven't had any inspiration lately :( don't worry though because joe's convinced me to come back anyway (i think it's one of those things where you need to write in order to get inspiration to write.

It's alright, I understand. And I only said I was leaving Goodreads as a ploy to see who my true friends were and who were just the indifferent people who didn't care either way as long as they got to do whatever they wanted. If I do truly leave, you'll know. And, even if I was going to leave, that doesn't mean that this group wouldn't still be in existence and that you wouldn't be allowed to do anything, so, if I were to truly leave, you're still allowed to RP on here if you want. And yes, I know you're Joe's sister; you've said that before. Welcome back. And thank you, Joe.

message 40: by Rinofthemill (new)

Rinofthemill | 37 comments i know it was just on your initial post to me you said i was his brother :) . i'm not offended or anything though.
well even though i barely know you it was still sad to see you go... joe's told me so much about you...
and i have to say you're rather an amazing actor to pull off such ploy like that- if a little harsh.
i only thought i couldn't roleplay on here once you were gone as much as joe seems to worship the ground you walk on he also said you were really strict when it came to your roleplays? so i didn't want to offend anyone or break any rules. now i know i have free reign here though (within reason) i just have to get to grips with the workings of the group and create a character. it's going to be such fun roleplaying again ^_^

message 41: by Sage of Souls (new)

Sage of Souls (sageofsouls) | 264 comments Mod
Sorry, I just had a flame skirmish with one of my friends on a forum against an idiot. I won't go into detail... And alright, then. And I know how to create a ploy such as that with ease in order to prove a point or fool someone into showing who they really are. I also know how to get out of my own ploy if it goes wrong. It all comes with being an analytical person. However, it's not a good trait to develop. And yes, you're allowed to roleplay on here, no matter what. I do own the group in terms of being its creator and own the right to delete it, but I'm using Goodreads's server and website to do this, so, if other people are going to be active in this group, it's their right to be able to continue roleplaying in the group, as long as Goidreads says it is and they follow the rules set by me, Goodreads, and the law. I only remove members if they are inactive and will never be active again, have never posted a single thing, or are either breaking any rules from either of those sources or are causing chaos and conflict within the group for no reason. It's not my right to prevent people from roleplaying on here, though. And I won't delete a group just because I leave Goodreads. The only exeption to that was my group, The Sin War RP, mainly because there was no activity in the group, the few people who were active only posted in the chat topic, and were constantly flaming me, and because it contained a lot of my original lore that goes with my book that I'd like to remain hidden and my own. So I deleted that group also as an aid in my ploy, since there was no real loss, as it doesn't concern me whether people lose a group or not when they have a multitude of other groups to choose from. And tell your brother not to "worship the ground I walk on", as that's a bit much (if you weren't just exaggerating). Also, yes, I am very strict when it comes to roleplaying, but only to keep things fair for all of my groups' members and to keep things running smoothly. And it is good to have you here. Welcome back. By the way, you're on late.

(This took 10 minutes--give or take 2--to type; I saw you post 8 minutes after you posting it.)

message 42: by Rinofthemill (last edited Feb 24, 2013 08:30PM) (new)

Rinofthemill | 37 comments oh extremely late- 04:20 to be precise. but i can never sleep anyway and i'm not in school at the moment so what the hey. i have most of my inspiration at night anyway- it's when i get most of my art and creative writing done, internet connection allowing.
a flame skirmish? how intrigueing. i've never been in one of those. you must be a much more skilled writer than i. unless you meant it literally? in which case WOW. i'm sorry it happened but WOW. (i highly doubt it was literal though). i have to admit i'm not the most skilled at fighting but practice makes perfect right?
... i feel like i'm trying to sell myself. trust joe to make a group sound so amazing that i don't know whether i deserve to be in it. and maybe i was exaggerating a little when i said he worships the ground you walk on, but he does think very highly of you- you're probably an aspiration to his writing. i'd take it as a compliment :)
...you know, you didn't have to explain to me why you did anything, or justify your actions, or explain how you work, i was just commenting on what i thought i saw. i wasn't trying to pressure you for a reason or anything. wow- i wouldn't try and pressure anything from anyone. unless i thought it was about me.

and you didn't have to devote ten minutes of your time talking to me either, or have a valid excuse as to why you took a while to reply. i'm on several sites at once (torturing my computer by forcing it to multitask) so to be honest i hadn't noticed the time elapsing at all. such is the power of deviantArt :) . you're actually rather lucky i checked goodreads for notifications at all- it's still going to take me a bit to get used to checking the page again. would you believe i was the one who begged joe to join this site? now it seems it's the other way around. and compared to most people on here, you're a very quick replyer

04:29 now :)

message 43: by Sage of Souls (new)

Sage of Souls (sageofsouls) | 264 comments Mod
Jeeze, where are you at?! O.o It's only 11:35 PM, here (at the time of the beginning of this reply). And ya, I understand how it is. I have insomnia, myself, but I am still in school, so there's a problem, there. Haha. XD
Yes, I was getting into a fight with my friend against another person on a forum on another website because he was being extremely arrogant about a subject my friend and I knew much about. But, again, I'm not going to go into much detail. When you spend time in online forums, on roleplaying websites, and MMORPGs, you learn how to handle yourself in a flame war and against trolls. Though, dealing with trolls is different than being in a flame war.
I understand what you meant, but I've had people in the past act like that for real and it's a bit too far for my liking. :| I'm a person that likes to be recognized, but not worshiped. :| Therefore, it's always good to take precautions.
The only reason I added that in is because I've had some people think I was just ignoring them, so I try to inform them that I was replying, but it just took me a while. It also helps inform people that I'm moving around trying to reply to everyone, so I won't get to them right away, but acknowledge their posts. Also, you might want to be careful how you word that, as, yes, I would be lucky, if I were to have been waiting and relying on your response. Your response is not a necessity for me, so I'm not "lucky" that you did. And I'm not being mean when I say that; it's just that I've seen that particular statement posted before and the recipients of those posts get really pissed off because of it, because it can seem a little rude. Again, no offense, mainly because I knew what you meant. I'm just trying to help you avoid conflicts because of that particular statement in the future.
I do try to respond as quickly as I can, but it's hard to type out such long replies like these on an I-touch.
(11:50 PM, now. I saw your post 2 minutes after being posted.)

message 44: by Rinofthemill (new)

Rinofthemill | 37 comments oh an i-touch you poor person >.< (not that i think they're bad devices or anything, in fact i would give rather a lot to have one, but i have heard tell that they are rather hard to work with when typing)
do you live somewhere in america? (or the falklands, somewhere along that line of longitude (or is it latitude? really, i should pay attention in geography more)) only as far as i can remember and work out that's roughly the time zone for around five hours behind greenwhich mean time...
i live in england :)
and it is a problem when i'm at school (cause i haven't left or anything) but i've just been sent home at the present because they don't know how to deal with me.
... and i've suddenly realised what light that statement shows me in. i'm not evil- honest. to revert back to the terms i know and love, i'm kind of somewhere between neutral and chaotic good. i hope.
i never thought you were ignoring me because i thought you'd left for good (and wasn't on here enough to know any different) so it wasn't necessary but it's nice to be in the loop for once :)
oh shoot no i didn't mean it like that! it was never my intention to be rude. i didn't mean that you should consider yourself lucky that i replied... it was more my luck for checking in the first place. i'm not explaining this very well but honestly, i didn't mean to imply anything that could have caused any offence. i'm sorry :(

message 45: by Sage of Souls (new)

Sage of Souls (sageofsouls) | 264 comments Mod
Sorry, I'm still in a flame war and it's starting to escalate, so my responses may be more and more delayed. But ya, I-touches are a lot like testing, since the majority of typing is usually done with your thumb on I-touches.
Yes, I'm on the east coast of the US. You must be further east in England than I would normally assume, since you're 6 hours ahead of me instead of three (since I didn't think the UK spanned three time zones O.o). And I think it's latitude, but I'm not entirely sure, either.
And don't worry, you're fine. I understand what you meant.

message 46: by Rinofthemill (new)

Rinofthemill | 37 comments take as long as you need- i'm not going anywhere :)
i think it's the type of touch sensor they use on the touches that makes it so awkard (i read something in new scientist i think? or was it engineering and technology? we have a lot of sciency magazines lying around the house. or we did till we started packing). like that there's two types of touch screen and the one they use for the touches is cheaper but not nearly as accurate, which would be alot of a problem when typing out long replies. then again my keyboard's breaking so we're slightly closer to even than we otherwise would have been. plus i'm multitasking.
actually i'm meant to be copying up an old roleplay of mine on to word in a sort of compilation thing but there's no deadline to it so it can wait to be revived another day. it doesn't help that goodreads isn't amazing at giving me my notifications though. but hey, i can live with that.
there's no way that the UK spans more than one timezone it's an absolutely tiny island. i don't want to imply that you've got your knowledge of time zones mixed up (because it's equally likely that i have too) but all i can tell you for definite is that it's... 05:26 over here. though obviously by the time i've finished this post it'll be a little later. i don't even study geo anymore i mean i've dropped it twice so you probably know more about the subject than me.
well i'm so glad that my meaning wasn't misconstrued- because honestly i would never intend to offend anyone. i'd rather offend myself

message 47: by Sage of Souls (new)

Sage of Souls (sageofsouls) | 264 comments Mod
I don't think there are two different types of touch screens, but I know there are different types of touch sensors and different types of word recognitions for typing. Either way, though, you still have to type out each letter or, otherwise, every word, if you have a setup where you can scroll through a list of words and select them, but that would be hell (sorry for the language). Otherwise, it would be like T9, where you type in a portion of a word and it would guess what you're trying to type and either give you one or multiple suggestions. My I-touch has that, but to where it only shows you one suggestion right away as you're typing it, then, if you don't correct it, you can finish typing it out the way you want to and, if it's not correct, you can click on it and it will give you multiple suggestions (I think 3 is the max on my I-touch). I k ow a good bit about computers and engineering, but I'm not sure what you mean by different touch screen.
I thought that England (or, at least, where London is) was only three hours ahead of me and not five, as I had gone there once when I was in the fourth grade for vacation and thought that we were only three hours ahead of where we were before we left from DC (minus the flight time, that is), but I guess I remember wrong. Either way, though, I'm not saying you're wrong, as I'm not sure and you're the one who's over there, not me.
And ya, don't worry about it. Like I said, I know what you meant.

message 48: by Rinofthemill (new)

Rinofthemill | 37 comments if you know a good bit about engineering then you're sure to be the correct one of the two of us- i mean i don't have any touched screened devices so... i have graphics tablet? but that probably works in a completely different way. your explanation sounds much more plausible. i'd try and look up the article i read to get a crystal view on the topic, but it's probably in a box somewhere ready to go in the moving van tomorrow...er...later on today.
i've been to america before in the easter holidays and i've also lived in the falkland islands for a year which i think is in the same time zone as florida and from what i can remember the difference is somewhere between four and a half and five hours. but it doesn't really matter- so long as i know it's so late it's insanely early that keeps me satisfied. i've never been any good at time keeping.
you don't need to apologise for your language- hell is hardly a swear word and even if it was i don't think anything can offend me anymore.
unless you insult my friends- but what reason would you have to do that?

message 49: by Sage of Souls (new)

Sage of Souls (sageofsouls) | 264 comments Mod
Well, like I said, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "touch screen", since there's touch recognition and then there's word recognition, which are two different things, so, depending on what you're trying to mean, you could be right, but, again, I don't know what you mean, so, sorry. As for your tablet, I've never used a tablet, so I don't know what it uses. I know it has some similarities and differences to the I-pad, but not much else after that.
Ya, like I said, you may be right. I don't really pay attention to time zones, to be honest, since they don't really concern me at this point, and I'm not over there and you are, so you're probably correct. Plus, I haven't been to England, since I was on the fourth grade, like I said, which was when I was 9 years old, so I probably just didn't remember correctly.
No, I don't even know you, nor do I even know who your friends are. And, not only do I not know who they are, but I don't even know them as an online user, as opposed to a real life person. At least I know you as "Rhiannon from Goodreads", whereas I don't even know your friends at all from anywhere, so I have no real reason to insult your friends, whom I don't even know as being in existence (meaning I don't know them in any way to relate them to you or know anyone I could relate to a real life person that would be your friend, not that you don't have any friends, which I'm sure you do). And, even if I did, I have no quarrel with any of you, so I'd really have no reason, then, either.
Anyway, I need to try to get to sleep so I can get ready for school tomorrow, which, unlike you, I do have in the morning. Haha. XD So I'll talk to you later today. Good night (or morning).
(I started replying to this 10 minutes after you posted.)
