Trip (shardsofromance) Copycat (November 2012)
My partner: Sarajayne
I chose to read: Dragonswood by Janet Lee Carey
Sarajaynes rating: 4 Stars
Date read: Jan 26, 2012

My Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: Nov 5th, 2012

I went into this book not expecting much from it but it took my breath away in so many ways I just loved all the characters and that the mains were not made to be perfect, that they actually made mistakes.
I loved it, the romance aspect is pretty much non-existent except for randomly popping up in certain places but even so it didn't distract me from the real plot. So although I was disappointed by the romance side of things, I just couldn't bring myself to lower the rating because it was so much more then that and one of my favourite reads of the year so far, would love a sequel!

Copycat (December 2012)
My partner is Vicki :)
I chose to read: Luna by Julie Anne Peters

Date read: 3rd December
My rating: 4 stars
I don't usually read books with this topic but I found the cover and title beautiful, so i thought why not?
This was a great choice because I ended up loving 'Luna' both the realistic aspect and that the characters actually had flaws was great to see, they made mistakes a lot... The only thing I disliked was the ending don't get me wrong it is fitting, but leaves the feeling of not being fully resolved sadly.

Trip (shardsofromance) Reading Relay

1. The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May, & June by Robin Benway
Finished: 12/25
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: I didn't have many expectations but ended up loving it! The sisters all reminded me of my own sisters at times. Also all the interactions between the different characters were great and I wouldn't mind seeing another book with them again some day.

2. The Boyfriend Thief by Shana Norris
Finished: 1/11
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: Another good read it seemed short at times simply because everything was a little rushed loads happening at once yet still it entertained me at times and I couldn't help smiling at all the characters interactions. I especially loved Zac who just had me giggling through even the serious parts.

Trip (shardsofromance) Copycat (2013)

January
My partner is Ruth Noemi.
I chose: Monster High (Monster High, #1) by Lisi Harrison
Ruth Noemi's Rating: N/A
Date Read: N/A

My rating: 4 stars
Date finished: January 9th
Wow I went into this with pretty high expectations after having seen a few of the films and most episodes. I really enjoyed it, I didn't actually know there were books in till this copycat so really glad I tried it out and although different from the show, still interesting definitely going to read the next one considering the open-ending ~

February
My partner is: Janna :)
I've decided to read: A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn
Janna's rating: 4 Stars
Date read: Nov 18, 2012

My Rating: 4 stars
Date Read: Feb 6th 2013
Wow... I loved the switching p.o.v's and that it wasn't instant love or that they didn't accept the 'true love' fact easily, they took their time falling and both had things which needed fixing before 'happily ever after' as well as Talia's reaction to modern ways was done realistically.

March
My partner is: Tessa :)
I chose: Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld
Ruth Noemi's Rating: 1 star
Date Read: N/A

My rating: 4 stars
Date finished: 20th March
I will admit when I started this there were many times I just wanted to throw it across the room and stop, there is so much going on as well as the different machines it was all really confusing to read I nearly skipped some parts. It got better though once the two main characters finally meet and its realistic to the world its in xD I ended up finishing and in the end it was amazing, I've now finished the trilogy in just a few days and stayed up till 4 in the morning just to finish the last book.

Faves;
- The illustrations
- Alex x Deryn/Dylan
- The animals/fabrications
- Ships and machines
- Character interactions

April
My partner is: Sami :)
I've decided to read: Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet #1) by Julia Quinn
Sami's rating: 5 Stars
Date read: April, 2013

My Rating: 4 stars
Date Read: April 15th, 2013
I haven't read a chick flick in a while so it was great to read one again and this had me constantly smiling, the interactions between the characters is just great especially the mains :) I may read one of the others some time.

May
My partner is: Never_more_enchanted :)
I've decided to read: Origin by Jessica Khoury
Never_more_enchanted's rating: 5 Stars
Date read: Jan 3rd, 2013

My Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: May 24th, 2013
This book turned out to be much more then I expected and is rather different to what I usually read, the story is interesting and many scenes kept me on my seat wondering what was being kept a secret. I love all the characters for different reasons, especially how real they seemed especially Pia who kept to what she knew in till the very last moment instead of getting carried away. Eio is really sweet and their love I could believe in even with as quickly it developed, the writer did so in an amazing way that suited their personalitys. Anyway one of my first 5 stars of the year, so that should say at the least how much I enjoyed it! xD

June
My partner is: Lindsey :)
I've decided to read: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Lindsey's rating: 5 Stars
Date read: Jan 10th, 2013

My Rating: 4 stars
Date Read: June 3rd-10th
Entirely original! Most of the story was unexpected to me and I became attached to the circus in many ways whilst I read through this book, even though I did have to pause every now and then to take in what I'd just read. For anyone who loves mystery and descriptions they'd probably enjoy this, still I couldn't give 5 stars simply because i was often finding myself confused between chapters as the time period changed. Also I began to like more the less main characters who only started appearing half-way through. Still overall it kept me interested through to the end so what more could I ask for...

July
My partner is: Lynette :)
I've decided to read: The Vampire Stalker by Allison van Diepen
Lynette's rating: 4 Stars
Date read: N/A

My Rating: 4 stars
Date Read: 1st July
It was different that's for sure, compared to how the book may appear I really enjoyed it xD Fairly certain many people will probably avoid thinking similar to twilight or cliche's, yet they'd be wrong i truly connected with each character here for one reason or other they just seemed real. Sure some parts were boring as well as I think they rushed time a little , skipping the get to know each other at parts but it suited this couple and I'd have it no other way, truly give this a chance if you haven't yet.

August
My partner is: Chelsea :)
I've decided to read: Poison by Bridget Zinn
Chelsea's rating: 4 Stars
Date read: April 3rd, 2013

My Rating: 4 stars
Date Read: Aug 7th, 2013
I will just say that I loved the main characters of this book about as much as the side cast, especially Rosie and Langley so cute! xD Also I found this book to be great in the way that it revealed information slowly throughout the book but each of the moments fit in perfectly and didn't seem out of place, this is one of my favourites that have done this. Since many books use this incorrectly and keep you lost for most of the story in till the last moment - thankfully in 'Poison' this wasn't the case although I did expect it to be for a moment or two at the start.
Glad I stuck with it though and probably one of the best I've read in a while, all I will say is that the ending left me disappointed not overly just I expected a little more and I'd love for there to be another book perhaps as a continuation or for Ariana's story.

September
My partner is: Callidorah :)
I've decided to read: The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #2) by Rick Riordan
Chelsea's rating: 2 Stars
Date read: n/a

My Rating: 4 stars
Date Read: September 17th
So glad I chose this one, I'd been putting it off for a while although I don't know why just many series have caused for disappointment lately. Luckily enough Percy Jackson series seems to be great so far, my favorite character is now Tyson I love him so cute! I must admit I did stop half-way through and take a break from the book, but the instant I picked it up again I finished it that day. Also plan to borrow the next ones from the library as intrigue to see how continues from where left off xD
May not be amazing, yet is enjoyable and the descriptions are perfect just enough to be able to picture the scenes without being dragged on.
So yes it was a fun read =^-^=

October
My partner is: Angela :)
I've decided to read: Cloaked by Alex Flinn
Angela's rating: 3 stars
Date read: March 16th, 2013

My Rating: 3 stars
Date Read: October 10th
I don't really know what to say about this book since although I enjoyed it whilst reading it never really held my full attention, i may have rushed through reading some parts and it was easy to take breaks from without leaving me wanting to know what happens next.
There are a bunch of things I loved such as the human/animal transforms and cloak, all the fantasy used but I feel the writer tried to put too many different ideas into one book and it just ended up a bit of a mess...
Still I liked it for the most part, just not very memorable

November
My partner is Trisha :)
I chose: Fat Vampire A Never Coming of Age Story by Adam Rex
Trisha's Rating: 3 stars
Date Read: November 2nd, 2012

My rating: 3 stars
Date finished: November 2nd, 2013
So how to explain my enjoyment of this book, I guess I shall start by saying some of the things that I loved a lot during this book such as:
- Comics
- Lunch
- Bike
- Parka [I think that's what it was]
- Friends
- Multi POV
- Symbolism [At least I think that's what it is,anyway I'm go with it]
Also as much as it is a vampire book it doesn't exactly take itself seriously on the fantasy side, in fact i'd go as far as to say it is rather realistic at times at least in many of the interactions and the characters. They're what kept me reading most of the time as each one made me feel for them in some way or other and not one of them was perfect, although they'd like you to believe they are.
Anyway there are many unexpected ideas that are placed in the book, although that may be because if I'm being honest i thought it was going to be some fluffy romantic vampire story. Where the guy gets the girl, love at first sight etc... you know the ones or you should.
Of course its much more! I fell for Doug from the start, despite his imperfections which there are many that just grow. Sejal I didn't have as much of a connection with, but I feel she was sort of left on the sidelines even with her own POV.

Right I don't want to make this too long, yet I'd just like to explain the reason behind my 3 star rating with 3 simple points.
- Television show
- Ghost superhero
- Elder vampire
All great idea and ones that could work great alongside each other, yet I think the author either got bored with each of them/didn't know which one to use. Perhaps if the book had been longer or separated into two this would've worked out better, been able to expand on them. The book being short left most of these undeveloped or turning up for a couple pages, only to then be rarely mentioned. It didn't help that one of these caused a huge change to the Mc half way through, made seem a little out of place.
My other problem was the ending, i'm sure many people will/do love the author for what he did and yet i'm sorry to say it was lost on me.
I'm all for 'happily ever after'

Recommended to anyone looking for something different, particularly in vampires.

December
My partner is Tanja :)
I chose: Erebos It's a Game. It Watches You. by Ursula Poznanski
Tanja's Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: November 18th 2013

My rating: 4 stars
Date finished: December 11th 2013
Well what to say about Erebos I both enjoyed it and at the same time found myself annoyed as I continued through, although I'm glad to have found it as I love games myself and have read quite a few virtual reality ones that are amazing in there own ways but this is different which I just loved. The characters I found myself conflicted with as one moment I'd love one and the next want them to just vanish already. Still despite the many things I could go on about that annoyed me about with Erebos, I did find it interesting and in a way am glad the author made the characters react in certain ways. As it showed the true effects of the game and that the mains were also just the same as those around them, they were not immune to the situation.

Trip (shardsofromance) Copycat (2014)

January
My partner is Mehsi :)
I chose: No Angel by Helen Keeble
Mehsi's Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: October 18th 2013

My rating: 4 stars
Date finished: 2nd Jan
Once again I'm caught off guard by Helen Keeble's writing although I found that I actually enjoyed the unexpected in No angel, whilst in Fang Girl i had to force myself to finish. Considering when I started to read this I almost gave up on it, because the main character is so well he is what he is and as i continued I found his personality grew on me quickly with his actions of which many are rather sweet alongside others. Oh and the evolution, was great the demons and angel sides all rather original compared to others I've read.

Now the girls o_O I really don't know what to say about most of them, except for his minions which are simply adorable... The love interests though I can at least be honest and say they all had rather original personalty that's for sure.
My fave would have to be Krystal because of her simplicity she had a bit of everything said what she was thinking or at least it showed, although I like Michaela for her Kick-ass attitude... Faith I found to be interesting for a while but eventually I only just about tolerated her being there.
Lots of humor is always great to have as well and No angel certainly had that.

Well I've never been great at explaining what it is exactly I like and dislike so I shall leave it at that, with one star of the rating for (view spoiler)

February
My partner is Janice :)
I chose: This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith
Janice's Rating: 4 stars
Date Read: June 5th 2013

My rating: 4 stars
Date finished: Feb 12th
Wow... that was a fast read I can't even -I don't know what to say about this book because really its not like there was anything amazing to it. Now don't get me wrong its not a bad thing, because really it is just a simple love story but the characters and the interactions. There is just something about it that kept me hooked and wanting to see how things turned out, also some beautiful quotes here that are so true or amusing that I fell in love with. Another thing that's done well is in fact there is actually a whole lot of things going on in a short space of time or/and overlap with others yet not once did I feel like it was too much.
Anyway lets just say I enjoyed it, so glad I chose it.

March
My partner is Justyna :)
I chose: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Justyna Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: April 9th 2013

My rating: 4 stars
Date finished: March 18th 2013
How unexpected, why did i keep ignoring this book on my TBR list? Seriously I doubt my choices sometimes, damn this was amazing. I love Aristotle and his whole personality I connected easily with him, as I understood his thoughts completely seemed so much like myself at times. Also the amount of quotes I've got highlighted from this on my kindle is probably pages long, I couldn't help it so many I simply adored. Well I won't go into much detail on how much I enjoyed this book, because well I can't explain why I did since at times it definitely had elements that I usually dislike and would put me off, yet here didn't bother me at all. The author explored many things that I'm glad off and made the book for me, I can't really explain it but I find it a rarity for such to be looked at in books as many wouldn't like to believe it and the realistic aspect it just... wow. I probably make no sense anymore, so I shall leave and state that you should read this book if you haven't already it truly is great.
The reason behind my 4 stars is because I'm not a big fan of open endings, closer to a 4.5 really ^-^

April
My partner is Jessica :)
I chose: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Jessica's Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: November 27th 2013

Rating: #5 stars
Date Read: Oct 4th 2015

My rating: 4 Stars

Well I've been meaning to catch up on Artemis fowl for a while, so it had to be one of my choices. I loved it, probably one of my favourites in the series so far, there were quite a few interesting aspects to this one as well as new chracters. The time travel aspect and certain things that happen were fun to view, the ending especially saddened and amused me... I can't wait to read the next. Quite a few twists in this one that made it enjoyable read and I look forward to continue x

I went into this expecting it to follow the story of the first film, quickly realised it's a prequel though which actually made twice as interesting. Great getting to learn how they became friends, learn more about their pasrand the isle of the lost which i love. All the links to fairytales and how interact is fun, Carlos is probably my favourite here compared to the films where I adore Evie.

The second half gave it that nudge to 4stars, I really enjoyed how they explored each ones relationship with their parent and the fairytales. Also how the ending leads into the film is spot on. Glad I finally read this one, I think I'm wait for the next film before I continue books though as probably do as catch up.

This book was super cute and such an easy, light hearted quick read. I honestly with there was more as it seems rather rushed and while there is a lot of character development, could definitely be more to the story. I really loved the way that Bet and Will worked together to figure out how she would become him, the school and side characters are all rather interesting too. It kept my attention form the start just ends so soon and feel like more could be told to the story.

Overall a lovely read going back to one of my favourite themes with gender bender and swapping places along with a bit of romance. Also its historical which is even better.
