Some Are Sicker Than Others discussion

The moment from the book that sticks with me over the others is the Monty and Vicki's drive before the accident. I find myself playing the "what-if" game about that moment. Vicki wanted to pull over and get a hotel room for the night. What would have happened if they had gotten that room? There are so many options. I keep thinking: Vicki dies, Dave gets sober. Vicki lives, Monty gets sober. In no situation do both men heal.

Maybe if Vicki had lived Monty might have stayed sober longer. But I don't think his sobriety would have lasted especially if he found out that Vicki was still using drugs.

I was really surprised that Dave was finally able to take responsibility for the accident after all the energy he put into making excuses for his actions. He was definitely in denial.

The way the book ended surprised me but I also know addicts that will never heal.
