Not difficult for me as these represent half of what I usually read! Fantasy, perhaps?

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I'll suggest anything "feel-good" for January.

JackieB | 251 comments Since January is the start of a new year, how about we read a book by a new author? Goodreads has a list of book debuts in the genres section. It looks like there would be something to suit everyone's taste.

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments Despite some mixed reviews, I'm going to pick The Tenderness of Wolves, by Stef Penney, The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney .
Although published in 2006, a new author to me and a debut book.

Joan Help! Where do I find this list of debut books - can't seem to see it anywhere

message 11: by Joan (new)

Joan Thanks Chris. If I can get it from the library, I intend to try The Snow Child

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I really enjoyed that one, hope you can get hold of a copy.

Chris (calmgrove) I'm going for The Almond Tree by new author Michelle Cohen Corasanti, about the Arab-Israeli conflict. I was sent it for review on LibraryThing, and its opening is impressive though a little depressing.

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I'm about to start The Tenderness of Wolves, for my "debut" author read. I'm really looking forward to it, but my week is truly manic so I'm not sure I'll get any quality reading time in.

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I found The Tenderness of Wolves, The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney pretty good in the main, but found there were too many characters who didn't add anything to the story, although not too many wolves! I liked the scenery though. I'm a bit behind writing a review

Glad you liked it Joan, it was one of my favourites for 2012.

JackieB | 251 comments I haven't even been able to start my choice. I've had almost no time for reading this month. I hoping I can at least start it this month.

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments Jackie, I hope the new job isn't keeping you too busy. I've missed your posts!

message 20: by Joan (new)

Joan I finished The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey and have to say it was one of the best books I have read recently. The story will stay in my mind for some time I think. Thanks Chris for recommending it.

Angie (angiefinley) | 6 comments This is not a new author, but she was new to me..Marie Force! I borrowed one of her books from a Nook friend and ended up reading all seven of the books in the Gansett Island series....Now patiently waiting for #8 : )

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I love it when you find a little treasure of an author or a series that ingnites an interest. It's happened to me a few times, the last time was Susan Hill's Simon Serrailler detective/crime novels. I'm "not so patiently" waiting for the 8th!
