Black Friday!

Oh goodness I am in complete agreement with you Amelia.I used to work retail and Black Friday was an absolute NIGHTMARE!!! I don't know what it is but the sweetest, most understanding and kindhearted customers we would have would turn into frothing, rabid lunatics on that day. It was scary how MEAN some of these people could get if we didn't have any more of what they were looking for or if someone was in their way.
I remember one woman backhanded one of my female co-workers one Black Friday because she reported we were sold out of Hamilton Beach coffee machines. And yes, police were called on that bee with an itch ASAP. Madness! I won't even go into all the horrid names I was called because I could only help one person at a time.
So no, I will be parking my butt under the covers on Black Friday, more than likely still sleeping off a wonderful dinner and a few drinks. I'll do my shopping on Cyber Monday thank you very much :)
Yes and yes. The two of you have it. Nothing takes the Christmas spirit right out of me like angry, shoving people. They grab, push and loudly spout rude things. Awful business. I prefer to be done with stores in general by this time but I did not make that mark this year. Here is the goods. My huzzzzband has decided that we need a t.v. A black Friday special t.v. that he proclaims to get himself. I told him he has no idea what he is in for. My prediction: he won't make it out of the car door. Its ok huzzzzband. I love you anyways.
The extra good part is, BIL is working swing that night, and sis wanted to get an early start with no one willing to sit. I GET GRACIE!!!! She's nearly five and this is only my second over nighter ever.
I don't think you could pay me enough to go near the stores on Black Friday. I usually hang out at home digesting. This year I have to work, but not retail thankfully.
Yeah, honestly, who wants to smell the entire American population's Thanksgiving farts in tightly packed spaces?
Keep your farts at home.
Keep your farts at home.
This is why I do my holiday shopping online. I don't have to deal with the mob mentality of people, and I can usually find everything I'm looking for within moments. The only regret I have about shopping online is I DO miss the nostalgic atmosphere of being out and about in town during the season.
Jessica Foch had only sold one pack of cigarettes by noon at the smoke shop on Division Street in Wicker Park, in spite of her boss's insistence that a Black Friday special on hookahs would bring in throngs of shoppers.
The 24-year-old store manabger [sic] admitted that 25 percent off a $300 hookah is a pretty big discount but said she didn't expect to see them fly off the shelf.

Australians are helping.
Craig Lightfoot and John Livingston III were on a bag hunt downtown.
In Chicago for a radiology conference, the Melbourne, Austrailia [sic], duo began shopping at 9 a.m.
"We're chasing bags for the wives," Lightfoot said.
He plans to shell out more money for gifts this year.
"The kids are getting older and I'm spending more," he said.
Livingston, who'd picked up handbags for his daughter at Barney's and was scouting for more for his wife, said the family's shopping budget is out of his hands.
"My wife sets the budget from the other side of the world," Livingston said. "At this point, it's infinite."

Oi, and don' forget the milk and hookahs.
I normally ignore the Black Friday but today I decided to shop....found a pair of Skechers I liked at DSW but they didn't have my size so I bought something similar and will try to live with it. The pair I ended up buying actually look a bit more expensive, but they're not quite as comfortable.
Then went to a Target which didn't have all the holiday sale specials that the Target I went to last week had....asked about Andes mints, the Target saleswoman had never heard of them. How is it possible a person working retail has never heard of Andes mints.

I just wrestle with the wonderful world of web shopping. Most of the best deals on what I have seeking were 'before' BF. Monday Tuesday and Wednesday seemed to have better promotions this year. Now we can wait for Cyber Monday.
Bought the Skechers online with a 20% off coupon. There's another pair I kind of want which is reduced from $109 to $89 but it feels kind of extravagant. I've already bought 3 pairs of shoes in the last month.
No shopping in the stores for me. I feel lucky to be able to shop online. My Christmas shopping is done. The best pair of walking shoes I've had were Skechers, but that was several years ago. I'm not so sure about these new ones with memory foam soles. I bought a cheap pair at Walmart, and they're comfortable, but squishy. When I walk in them, my hips hurt. I feel that I need a more stable sole that corrects for pronation. I can tell a big difference when I walk in my shoes that have a more stable sole, even though they're not as comfortable.

My sister, however, shops all through the night with her mother and SIL from store to store to store doing nearly all of her holiday shopping in one go.
I read that more stores are opening on Thursday evening, because they believe this is when men prefer to shop. Men, are you planning to brave the hoards?
Personally, no matter what the sale, I'm not willing to wrestle anyone for my purchase...how 'bout you?
