Max Stone | 9 comments "You seem cold," a voice comes, deep and masculine with just a touch of love. I shake in my cushioned-bottomed chair at the bow of a massive white yacht inscribed with the words Sailor Man Senior on the outsides...It was fashioned a little over ten years ago with the looks of a three-story mansion “walking” on water like God almighty himself...Too bad I can't enjoy it much...No matter how many times I've been up here, it always means the same thing: great sex and a hollow apology."

Robyn | 2 comments The Ghost, The Rat, and Me will be released as an ebook in three episodes.

Things aren’t the same when your best friend dies in a car accident. But when your best friend comes back as a ghost to help you solve a case, life becomes definitely better. You’ll love Temple. He’s a funny, opinionated, cool nerd who doesn’t quite have the hang of being a ghost. When I, Campbell (Bell) Olson, decided to run for eighth-grade president, I didn’t expect my opponent to be Will Tuffy, the most obnoxious boy at school, and I didn’t expect the race to start with a dead rat on my doorstep. That was the easy part. From there, things got worse and my case went from being a mystery, to being extremely dangerous. This is my tale of the ghost, the rat, and me.

Debra Brown (debrabrown) | 11 comments I am working on two books. One is an anthology of posts from the first year of the English Historical Fiction Authors blog, and the other is my second histfic novel, For the Skylark, which will be the beginning of the Dante and Evangeline Series.

England, 1812: Eighteen-year-old Evangeline follows the strange household Rules. Indeed, if she does not, everything goes wrong. It is then her fault, is it not? Dante, her twin and only friend, would like to leave their tended isolation on the dilapidated estate and see the nearby village. Evangeline feels she must persuade him to obey and remain. Breaking another Rule, he speaks to a new maid and falls in love. Evangeline tries to come between them and fails. Dante gives her attention, but she feels jealous, abandoned and shattered. She tried to overcome this, but develops a panic disorder and withdraws to the cobwebbed dome in the tower of the house where their detached mother, Lady Charlotte, spends her days. Dante wishes to marry and manage the estate, long under his mother's control.

The contemptuous butler adores a portrait on the wall—Lady Charlotte wears the deceased lady's necklace. The butler teams with the solicitor who refuses to involve Dante in the estate's management, even when their mother becomes ill and comatose. The necklace disappears. With Dante gone outside, the solicitor enters bringing a golden-haired man to visit the house. Evangeline sees him from a hiding place, and she falls in love at first sight. How can she meet him? Suspense builds with an old will, identity questions and money having disappeared from a chest perplexingly labeled For the Skylark. Will Mother's diaries hold the answers?

FOR THE SKYLARK is historical suspense with sweet romance and a light touch of fantasy. It will appeal to Regency and Victorian fans, those who like a setting in strange old houses and lovers of Charles Dickens' character, Miss Havisham.

Debra Brown (debrabrown) | 11 comments Thanks, Tony, for the opportunity to present the forthcoming book to the public.

I see that you put part of your WIP as a separate topic, and I will do that, too. Again, thanks.

Paula Lofting (paulalofting) | 19 comments Hi everyone

I am currently editing the sequel to Sons of the Wolf, the Wolf Banner. It follows my flawed hero Wulfhere, as he battles with his personal life, a bloodfeud and his conscience. In the first book, Wulfhere, a Sussex warrior (in the 11th century) has to find a way to extricate himself from an oath to his arch enemy, Helghi, in which he promised his Lord, Harold the Earl of Wessex he would keep in order to eradicate a growing emnity between two villages. The problem for Wulfhere is that the oath he must keep is to wed his daughter to Helghi's son, an oath he feels that will compromise her life and cause him shame. His efforts to release his daughter from what he sees is a terrible fate only causes more trouble for him and his family. In The Wolf Banner, we follow Wulfhere's continued fight with Helghi against the back drop of historical events as they happen on the battlefields and in the Great Halls and palaces of 11th century England

Kassandra Lamb (kasslamb) | 22 comments Hi!
I wanted to let you know SUICIDAL SUSPICIONS, the 8th book in the Kate Huntington Mystery series is available for Pre-order!

It's set to release next week, but the price may go up soon after that!

Suicidal Suspicions by Kassandra Lamb
Here's the description and the link to Amazon:

Psychotherapist Kate Huntington is rocked to the core when one of her clients commits suicide. How can this be? The woman, who suffered from bipolar disorder, had been swinging toward a manic state. The client’s family blames Kate and they’re threatening to sue for malpractice. She can’t fault them since she blames herself. How could she have missed the signs?

Searching for answers for herself and the grieving parents, Kate discovers some details that don’t quite fit. Is it possible the client didn’t take her own life, or is that just wishful thinking? Questioning her professional judgement, and at times her own sanity, she feels compelled to investigate. What she finds stirs up her old ambivalence about the Catholic Church. Is her client’s death somehow related to her childhood parish?

When she senses that someone is following her, she wonders if she is truly losing it. Or is she getting dangerously close to someone’s secrets?

Kassandra Lamb (kasslamb) | 22 comments ‪‎Calling all dog lovers and mystery lovers!

My new book, To Kill a Labrador: A Marcia Banks and Buddy Mystery is now on pre-order!

Marcia (pronounced Mar-see-a, not Marsha) likes to think of herself as a normal person, even though she has a rather abnormal vocation. She trains service dogs for combat veterans with PTSD. Then the ex-Marine owner of her first trainee is accused of murdering his wife, and Marcia gets sucked into an even more abnormal avocation–amateur sleuth.

Called in to dog-sit the Labrador service dog, Buddy, she’s outraged that his veteran owner is being presumed guilty until proven innocent. With Buddy’s help, she tries to uncover the real killer. Even after the hunky local sheriff politely tells her to butt out, Marcia keeps poking around. Until the killer finally pokes back.

This is a new series and I'm really excited about it. Hope you'll check it out!
