Just a thread where you can talk about what books you'd like to see made into movies, and even if you want what people you'd like to play for certain roles.

There are so many books lately that are being made into movies like:
-Beautiful Creatures
-City of Bones…
- The Host. which i'm kind of on edge about considering twilight and how much those movies sucked.
And a bunch of others.
A few weeks ago I was watching a video on YouTube and there was an advertisement for a book by Nicholas Sparks: Safe Haven and it looks so great, even though I really haven't read the book, although I may have to.
One book that I can think of is probably Gone by Michael Grant. I'd love to see some big movie producers develop all the characters and the scenes from the book, that's definitely a movie that I’d pay to see.
There's a bunch of others as well, but at the moment I can't think of any.
So tell me what you’d like to see as a movie an why :)
Also what books are coming out as movies, and your anticipation!

One book I've been waiting to see a movie out of for a couple years now is Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. I've heard that there is a movie in the works but haven't seen anything definitive and would really love to see an urban, realistic setting with the faeries running around in it!

Faeries would deffinately be cool. I haven't read Wicked Lovely yet but I plan to, hopefully sometime soon. Is it a series?

YES! I loved every book from it too, and she has some great novellas. Definitely one of my favorites.

message 5: by Little Bee (new)

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) I couldn't get into the host when it had come out. Still haven't read it, probably wont see the movie...might wait til its on netflix. LOL

Books I would like to see as movies:

Night Circus
The rest of the Percy Jackson (which I believe they were just in my town filming for)
Fablehaven (if they can pull it off without being cheesy).
The Anita Blake series (if not as a movie, than an awesome HBO ...because it can only be on one of the premium channels....tv series)

I am sure there are other, but I can't think off hand at the moment!

The next Percy Jackson is coming out next summer, it's got some pretty nice casting choices, if I do say so myself, but I'm also a huge Nathan Fillion fan so adding him to this series is kinda epic.

I would also love to see Wicked Lovely.
I'm so excited to watch the Host and Beautiful Creatures can't wait to see how they turned out.

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) Oooo I didnt know Nathan Fillion was going to be in it!!!!!!!! *runs to IMDB*

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 1340 comments Mod
Yep, I'm excited for him to be in it. He's playig Hermes.

As for The Host, I could never get into it, and after Twilight and what they did to those movies I'm not sure I could get into now lol

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien I keep seeing the previews, an I'm reading it at the moment as well and it's great. Can't wait to see how the movie turns out :)

message 11: by Anna (new)

Anna (amartinischwob) | 146 comments I agree Morgan, I LOVED THIS BOOK! I read this last year (in anticipation of reading the trilogy after!) but it was SO GOOD. I hope the movie is as good as the Lord of the Rings was :)

message 12: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 1315 comments Mod
Me too. I haven't read the trilogy yet, but that's the reason i started the Hobbit, because i started the first book and i was a bit confused ;P

Just started Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks and I'm watching the trailer every minute of my life and now I can't wait for February!

Saw that a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it....but I feel like we only got a very miniscule amount into the book for such a long movie!

message 16: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Gottlieb How about a little love for the Chicagoland Vampire series. I would love to see Merit and Ethan, Mallory and Catcher on the big screen.

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 1340 comments Mod
I haven't read the series, but I have the first one, I'm guessing you enjoy it?? lol

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I really want Fallen the book series to come out on movie. And Hush, Hush. Every book I read I usually think about what the movie would be like

Good call on Hush Hush!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

All of them. Literally.
No matter if the movie (or book) is good. . . I LOVE to see the book be made into more of a reality than what's inside my head.

message 21: by Nichole (new)

Nichole Naumann (NicholeNaumann) | 2 comments Sharp Objects. Gone Girl (this is apparently happening, with Reese Witherspoon). Dark Places (heard Amy Adams is playing Libby Day). Can you tell I'm obsessed with Gillian Flynn?

Please Ignore Vera Dietz. Really like the author, A.S King, she's a cool chick. A great read. Plus it takes place in my hometown of Reading, PA (if you don't know where that is, think John N Kate + Eight and Amish Mafia).

And, of course, my own book, If You Come To California. I can see Megan Fox as Vanessa but have no idea who would play Josie.

message 22: by Leah (new)

Leah | 2 comments The Night Circus would make an incredible movie... I keep seeing the trailers for City of Bones so that's exciting, I do wonder whether they'll keep the Jace/Clary thing in though? Especially if they don't plan to make the others.

message 23: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 1315 comments Mod
@Donna I just saw your comment, but yes it was Amazing. I just loved all the action. Usually I'm the type to watch sad, or romantic movies, so this was definitely a great change. The end was a little annoying, but I don't really mind, because I know the next one is going to be just as good. I can't wait till it comes out in DVD :)

I haven't yet read The Night Circus, but I plan to. I'm wondering the same thing on the Mortal Instruments Jace and Clary thing. I don't know if I'd even watch if they came out with all the movies. I hope they wrap it up good and don't leave us with questions though if they're only going to make one. I've read the books but it would still be totally annoying.

Emily (emilyblake) | 25 comments I really think Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder should be made into a movie! Also A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray

Anyone seen the Catching Fire trailer? I thought it was a little epic :)

message 31: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 1315 comments Mod
I saw it a week our so ago, but it looked good, hopefully it's good though, cause it's my fav book in the series. Plus i didn't so much like the first book and the movie wasn't too good as well, so hopefully this'll be better.

message 32: by Valencia (new)

Valencia (empowered) | 11 comments Castle in the Air (Howl's Moving Castle, #2) by Diana Wynne Jones since Howl's Moving Castle was such a good movie.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead - I can not wait to see the film adaptation from this novel!! I just hope they do the book justice.
Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins - The trailer is AMAZING, but I wasn't to impressed with the hunger games, so hopefully this one will be better :D!!

I saw on the author's twitter page that Vampire Academy wrapped filming the other day and she loved what she saw so far. I have really high hopes for that one!!

I also can't wait for Sea of Monsters! As the commercial keeps repeating: "3 more days" 0_0

YES!! I thought the first one was cute and can't wait to see this Sea of Monsters. I don't like them the same as the books but it is one of those series I can take the movies separate from the books so I'm hoping this one will be good too!

message 38: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 1315 comments Mod
Yeah. I thought that the first one was good, it definitely got me to read the series. I wondered though if it was smart of them to go directly to the second book? Are they going to continue in chronological order or end here?

message 39: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 1340 comments Mod
They do have Titan's Curse scheduled to release in 2015 but that's so far away it could easily be cancelled if they wanted too.

Wow yeah that's a long time. A lot of people are questioning if it I'll work because of their age and I kind of am too.

message 41: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 1340 comments Mod
They do look SO MUCH older in this one than the last, and even in the first one I thought they were older than I anticipated. I'd hate to see them switch actors though, I feel like either way they go it'll be weird.

message 42: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 1315 comments Mod
Yeah it would suck if they traded actors. And weren't they like 15 or 16 in the first book maybe even younger..?

message 43: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 1315 comments Mod
Lol it's weird how they changed Annabeths hair to make her look blonde because so many people said she should be blond.

message 44: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 1340 comments Mod
Her hair was the first thing I noticed in the trailer!! I was like whoa where did that come from??? I know in the story she's blonde but it surprised me that they changed it lol.

I think they were suppose to be like 13 in Lightning Thief...

message 45: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 1315 comments Mod
Wow yeah it's a bit strange I was thinking maybe 12-14 but I don't know. Way weird. Yeah the blonde hair was one of the first things I noticed as well.

message 46: by Lissette (new)

Lissette (liss4ever) in lightning thieft, they're all suppose to be 12, the age throughot the series. by the end of the series, most of them are 16.

message 47: by Lissette (new)

Lissette (liss4ever) annabeth's hair is blonde in the books, so i guessed they changed it to match her appearnace in the books, i think her eyes are grey in the books but they kept them blue in the movies.

message 48: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 1340 comments Mod
None of them look 16 anymore LOL and this is only the second movie. I don't mind changing hair colors or eye colors USUALLY, but it was just such a stark difference between movie 1 and movie 2 that it jumped out at me.

message 49: by Lissette (new)

Lissette (liss4ever) yea they don't, they looked 15 in the first movie, they look older in the second one.

message 50: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 1315 comments Mod
Yeah they'll definitely look older by the 3rd movie, as well.
