Reading is Attractive discussion

Ok I read this book about ten years ago i have no idea who the author is or the name of the book and I was hoping that maybe someone does from what i remember it was a bout a family the mother abandoned her children and they go out into the world to try to finc her they find the grandmother and that is all i remember does anyone know of a book like this?
