This is one of my favorite books of all time. Lyndsay Faye writing and her historical knowledge of NYC in 1845 is amazing. She must have spend many, many hours on her research. It helps that she lives there. This book has many twists and turns and you really feel as you are there during that period. They she describes NYC you just can't help but feel it. This is a murder mystery whcih involved the very for NYPD cop Timothy Wilde. He is stationed in the 6th ward which was the worst area to live at that time. Lyndsay Faye has come out with a sequel which will be available Sept 2013. It's called Seven of a Secret. Can't wait. Here is a link to a youtube video where Lyndsay is giving a walking tour of NYC and it's the areas where the book takes place.
