Fantasy Book Club Series discussion

I'll post my closing thoughts in a couple of days when I finish The Path of Daggers. In the mean time, feel free to jump right in here with your own thoughts or questions.

Spoilers are allowed for all previously books, including this one, in the Wheel of Time series. Please mark things that may refer to future events in the series.

I can't find a satisfactory reason why Dashiva decided it was time for Rand to die. Didn't he just save his life at the end of the last book? Knowing what I know about who Dashiva really is, perhaps he thought Rand had finally gone made, especially while using Callandor against the Seanchan (and anyone/everyone else within striking distance)?

It becomes clear in Winter's Heart.

I've not read before, it puzzled me but I decided it has to be based on Rand's behaviour with the sword. Think I enjoyed the book more for being shorter, even the dress straightening!
