Against the Odds by J. AdamsThis was quite predictable but still a wonderful love
story of a successful black model and a rough, tough
rancher.
A tribute to many courageous couples who have crossed
the strong racial line. Our hats off to you.
This was very clean and well written. The intimate scene
after marriage was lovingly, and purely identified.
Recommended to YA and adults alike.

Here is more direct feedback I have received about Lucky.
Joelle W:
“Personally, I love this truly unique American time period … With the well-intentioned but naïve Volstead Act comes the gangster ridden, politically corrupt Prohibition Era. Think Boardwalk Empire. This well written, slice of Sicilian life short, exemplifies how difficult at times it was to distinguish the “good guys” from the bad.”
Amy J:
“I have always been a fan! This is a great read!’”
Pam K:
“Just finished the book and what a great read. I'm used to 300+ pages, so it went fast being a short story. Left me wanting more of what will happen next. Good characters, easy to relate to and can't wait to see where it will go from here.
Jackie F:
“I purchased and read Lucky Says Hello! It is a great story! Extremely well-written and very descriptive! I really could see the characters come alive as I was reading! Keeping my fingers crossed that the novel gets published as well! I am sure as hell looking forward to reading it!”
Nate:
“I’m an English Teacher and this thing is not only extremely well written, it is extremely visual! And the characters…love them! I can picture their every move! I could not put it down! I love this genre! Great story! I need more!”
Haven't heard about Lucky yet? Here is the book jacket intro and excerpt.
Book Jacket Intro:
Pete Carissimo, known to his friends as Big Pete, is a successful Sicilian immigrant businessman and politician in New Jersey. He has connections, associations, and relationships in all walks of life—including a clandestine partnership with the notorious mobster, Charles “Lucky” Luciano. Pete vows his alliance with Luciano is strictly related to business that he is not and never will be a gangster. However, in the fall of 1931, he finds his stellar reputation, successful business, and budding political career facing ultimate ruination with his secret allegiance on a head-on collision course with exposure. Backed into a corner, Pete is faced with becoming something he vowed he never wanted to be; a real gangster.
Story Excerpt
Big Pete, as many of his friends called him, had not gained his powerful status from just being a smart businessman. He took great pride in being a man of the streets and a man of the people. His reputation was stellar, as an honorable man, who oozed charisma that drew people to him like a pied piper. He touched thousands of lives in every walk of life, even the types of characters no one would ever expect. These were critical, secret relationships existing in the shadows and dark corners of his life, and they needed to remain there. Only a very select few knew they existed, with Antonio being one of them. Pete always knew the day would come when he would be faced with the threat of exposure. But, being prepared and staying one step ahead of his challenges was a cornerstone to his success.
