OOhhh - did someone say shopping :-)All tips gratefully received.
Also, can anyone recommend some great second hand bookstores...
There's bound to be a few good second hand bookstores in Lawrence, since it's a college town. Here's one, but I'm sure there are others. http://www.hpb.com/078.htmlIf you go, just ask around. People in Lawrence are super friendly.
Crown Center, where RT is, is a huge mall and tourist complex. There will be lots to do close by! Here's the official website:

If you want more upscale shopping, there is a fabulous shopping district called Country Club Plaza. It's known for it's fountains and Spanish architecture and it has a Cheesecake Factory! People drive from Wichita (3.5 hrs away, where I live) just to eat there. Seriously, the cheesecake is that good.

If you enjoy museums, KC has bunches. The art museum is awesome, but if you want to see something with more local flavor I'd suggest the Arabia Steamboat museum. It's a giant display of finds from an archeological dig of a 1856 steamboat that sunk in the Missouri River:

Have fun - I hope you enjoy Kansas and Missouri!
Hi Suzanne! Thanks for the info! How far is the Country Club Plaza from the Sheraton hotel. *waves at Mona*

Could anyone please suggest cities/towns/locations I absolutely MUST visit?
I am indeed planning to take the official pre-convention Tour.
