I got this book sitting here I tried to read for years, but never got further then about 45 pages...The Dante Club
Perhaps if someone else also got it.
Other suggestions from my stack is Genghis: Birth of an Empire
Or The Crimson Petal and the White
Oh I love The Dante Club! I hate his other books, but got into that one. I hope someone reads it with you.

The Dante Club is the best one! I couldn't even finish the Dickens one...

Great! Yes, my copy is in Russian. The actual cover looks like this:
I've started the thread. Any date is fine for me

I suggest we start on the 20th of January, so we have some time to invite some other friends. Is that OK with you?

I have invited Gundula, one of my friends. She wants to join, if she can get the German version of the book.
Sylvia wrote: "I have invited Gundula, one of my friends. She wants to join, if she can get the German version of the book. "I hope she'll find it! Great to have the original one with us. First I wanted to find one for myself, but my German isn't good enough yet.

Gundula just mailed me that she wants to postpone the buddy till February, March, because she's very busy in January. How is that with you? I have no objections, I saw you have other books on your list which I want to read too:
Buddha's Little Finger or The Book Thief. The latter was highly recommended to me by one of my reading friends on GR. It is available in Dutch, but English is no problem. What do you think.

I have no objections either!
Let's read the Book Thief? I've started it late December and found it very good read. My copy is in English and I'm comfortable with you reading in any language.

I love American Gods! I re-read pretty much every year. Whenever you feel like reading it, let me know. I'll read it with you.
Natasha wrote: "I love American Gods! I re-read pretty much every year. Whenever you feel like reading it, let me know. I'll read it with you. "Great! I've just finished "Shadows" part, let's discuss it now
@Daphne cool!

I saw that @Daphne is also interested to join this buddy read.

Great! Let's read it together. I've started part 4 not long ago.

I've finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Natasha, thanks for the company! I'll be with you till you finish a reread.I'm planning to read two Pratchett books, Thud! and Going Postal next, anyone is up to read them with me?
Hello fellow climbers of the TBR mountains!I'd like a buddy to share the ascension, so if anyone has the following books, I'd be happy to have a reading-buddy :
-->The Third Man by Graham Greene (I'm reading the novel, not the screenplay).
--> A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
--> Don Juan by Molière
--> The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
--> A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams
--> Slaughterhouse-Five by Vonnegut Kurt
So, anyone interested in those books?
I'm editing this post because I've just finished The Third Man.
I'd read Slaughterhouse-Five with you. Maybe starting February 1st? That is on my bookshelf and will now be added to the pile.
Tani wrote: "I'd read Slaughterhouse-Five with you. Maybe starting February 1st? That is on my bookshelf and will now be added to the pile."That works very well for me, as it gives me time to finish or make a dent in my other books.
Cool! Don't quite know how things are done here - do we start a discussion thread, or set goals, or...?
Tani wrote: "Cool! Don't quite know how things are done here - do we start a discussion thread, or set goals, or...?"Maybe we could agree to read a certain number of chapters/pages each week? And discuss it then? Would it work for you or do you prefer something else?
Tani wrote: "Fine by me! Ten chapters, 285 pages - what do you suggest?"I'm going to read a translation in my mother tongue, so going by the number of chatpers could be easier. Would 3 chapters a week work for you? That would allow us to read the book pretty quickly but still be reasonnable.
ETA : and we should totally start a "Slaughterhouse-5" thread, so that we don't clogg up this thread... I'm off to start it now.
@DigiReader: the buddy reads for The Book Thief is still going, you're welcome to join http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...Btw, your profile is set to "private", you might want to open in to receive messages not only from friends

I'm reading The Book Thief with Lamilla. Would be wonderful to have you too as a participant in this buddy read. Check the link Lamilla send you.

Great, a buddy read becomes more interesting with more people joining in. I love to hear your ideas about it. I've finished it, but I will re-read very soon. My copy is Dutch.
Anyone up for a read of Mansfield Park in April? Also, Michelle and I are doing a buddy read in April for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time if anyone is interested?
Would anyone like to buddy-read The Name of the Wind
with me in April? I'm determined to read it this year (and maybe next month).
Michelle and I will be starting Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore
this weekend if anyone would like to join us.
Sera wrote: "Michelle and I will be starting Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore

I thought I might post a few of the books I have on my TBR pile that I really want to read over the next few months to see if anyone might be interested in doing a buddy read for any of them starting next month (June):
It's a bit of an eclectic mix I know.
Michelle wrote: "I thought I might post a few of the books I have on my TBR pile that I really want to read over the next few months to see if anyone might be interested in doing a buddy read for any of them starti..."Sorry Michelle, none of those books are in my TBR pile, & since I'm committed to reading 100 from the TBR pile this year, I dasn't stray into uncharted waters!

I want to read Cancer Ward by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, but the sheer number of pages has me intimidated... Would someone like to read this book with me? I think a climbing buddy would be just the thing to keep me motivated.
