Got a book sitting on your TBR stack that you'd like company talking? This is the place to make your Buddy Read suggestions.

I got this book sitting here I tried to read for years, but never got further then about 45 pages...

Oh I love The Dante Club! I hate his other books, but got into that one. I hope someone reads it with you.

The Dante Club is the best one! I couldn't even finish the Dickens one...

I agree with Bev. I enjoyed Dante, couldn't finish the Poe one, and didn't even try the Dickens.

I suggest we start on the 20th of January, so we have some time to invite some other friends. Is that OK with you?

I have invited Gundula, one of my friends. She wants to join, if she can get the German version of the book.

Gundula just mailed me that she wants to postpone the buddy till February, March, because she's very busy in January. How is that with you? I have no objections, I saw you have other books on your list which I want to read too:
Buddha's Little Finger or The Book Thief. The latter was highly recommended to me by one of my reading friends on GR. It is available in Dutch, but English is no problem. What do you think.

I have no objections either!
Let's read the Book Thief? I've started it late December and found it very good read. My copy is in English and I'm comfortable with you reading in any language.

I'd like a buddy to share the ascension, so if anyone has the following books, I'd be happy to have a reading-buddy :

I'm editing this post because I've just finished The Third Man.

I'd read Slaughterhouse-Five with you. Maybe starting February 1st? That is on my bookshelf and will now be added to the pile.

That works very well for me, as it gives me time to finish or make a dent in my other books.

Maybe we could agree to read a certain number of chapters/pages each week? And discuss it then? Would it work for you or do you prefer something else?

I'm going to read a translation in my mother tongue, so going by the number of chatpers could be easier. Would 3 chapters a week work for you? That would allow us to read the book pretty quickly but still be reasonnable.

ETA : and we should totally start a "Slaughterhouse-5" thread, so that we don't clogg up this thread... I'm off to start it now.

Sorry Michelle, none of those books are in my TBR pile, & since I'm committed to reading 100 from the TBR pile this year, I dasn't stray into uncharted waters!

I want to read Cancer Ward by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, but the sheer number of pages has me intimidated... Would someone like to read this book with me? I think a climbing buddy would be just the thing to keep me motivated.
