Eric | 3 comments As a Navy veteran and Civilian Marine, I committed to reading through the professional reading lists of both services. I started with First to Fight, as it's the Commandant's Choice book.

Aside from the Marine Corps Acculturation Program (given to civilian employees of the Marine Corps) this was a great introduction to the culture and history of this service for me.

This book touches on many topics. It covers a basic history of the Marine Corps, the post WWII fight to save the Marine Corps, and various elements of Marine Corps culture such as having to operate with very little. The author then touches on several elements of his own career. He was involved in developing amphibious tactics in the 1930s. He was involved in planning Inchon in Korea.

It was very good reading.
