Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad...

(hide spoiler)] Can you think a few things you love about this time of the year? They don’t have to be limited to “Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens;” but, whatever you choose, find them on book covers and tell us.

Rules: Read three (3) books that depict your favorite things; it could be an item on the cover, or be in a scene of a book you read. Be sure to indicate your reasons. Also, read two (2) book of your choice, for a total of five (5) books. (Yes, we are giving you a break, because it is a busy time of year!) Also, please keep track of your read count.

Duration: December 1 through 31, 2012

Spell-It-Out Option
Use a three, four or even five letter word that reminds you of Christmas or the holidays and spell it out with the books you read. Just a few suggestions:

Santa, candy, snow, ski, bell, gift, holly, gold, green, tree, light, party, pie, cold...

Use book titles or series names, author’s names (first or last) spell-it-out. You can ignore the first indefinite (“a” “an”) or the first definite (“the”) articles. Special Note: I used all Christmas books for the example below; you do NOT have to do so.

1. A Virgin River Christmas by Robyn Carr - there was a scene with a candlelight ceremony where they sang Christmas carols. That is my absolute favorite Christmas event at church, we call it Carols and Candles :)
2. To Catch an Heiress by Julia Quinn - I love reading books that are romantic but make me laugh. The heroine in this one had me cracking up the whole way through :)
3. Wish List by Sylvia Day - good hot sex
4. The Untamed Bride by Stephanie Laurens - there was a scene where the main characters woke up to snow and went outside and had a snowball fight. Everytime we have enough snow on the ground, me, Hubs and kids will have one :)
