I am almost done with book 1!! I absolutely love this book, I can not believe that this is Scott Lynch's debut novel!!

Josh | 5 comments Thanks for adding me. This book is probably in my top 10 favorites of all time. It's clever, it's funny and sarcastic, it has awesome characters, great action and well flowing story. Scott Lynch is a master, and I agree that it's hard to believe he's a debut author.

I know...I put off reading it forever (like 6 months) now that I have started I can't believe that I ever waited to start. Its by far one of my all time faves!!

Robin Wiley (thursdaynext) | 4 comments One of my all time favorites too! I just checked Lynch's website, and he said he found some major paradox type mistake. I don't know if I'm more bummed for him, because he has to fix it, or us because we have to wait longer. Have you read the teaser pages he posted? I'm refusing. Feels like cheating.

I was going to read them but then I decided to wait because it would just drive me crazy wanting more!!

Bjoern | 3 comments I would never call it cheating.

They don't call the same stuff by movies "teasers" without reason ;) I've often read the Preview chapters in Hardcover Editions of "the next volume" and then when finally the next book came out i enjoyed them no less than the rest of the book, but additionally there was this slight "deja vu" feeling which IMO helps going through this awkward first chapters that often don't feel really right when you read a book for the first time and which will require you hours to read instead of the time later chapters take...

But maybe you should go back to Scott Lynchs Livejournal page... he has added some very nasty details about his writing problems and his private lives around the first week of march and there does not seem to be much hope that we will get to read The Republic of Thieves any time soon.

Brad Zimmerman | 1 comments I'm a bit late to the Gentleman Bastards game, but I finally got to it on my to-read list and I'm loving it! :-)
I'm only half way through book 1, but it's already one of the coolest fantasy books I've ever read.
Locke is such a wonderfully fun character, and Lynch is great at twisting the reader's view of the story and Tarantino-ing scenes back and forward.

Have any of you read "Among Thieves" yet? It's not Locke Lamora, but it helped fill the Locke Lamora shaped hole in my heart for awhile. I reviewed it if you're interested.

I have just started reading it, I see from your review that you loved it, that's a good sign :-)

Katey | 5 comments Chiming in late! Just found out about this book over the holidays. It's amazing. I am a huge fan of the genre and am clinging to every rich and colorful sentence in this novel!

This book is so refreshing for so many reasons! I am so happy that I found this group and hope to find great suggestions.

Dreading its inevitable ending, but have book 2 to look forward to!
