It's been a week now since I've seen my love, I often think of her as I look at all the pretty stars above.
But I'm here and your there, and theres noone around to care, for I am on a beach so beautiful and quite and I'll see you soon my love when were in each others sight.

Just one of the top of my head :)

Marren | 60 comments Kggelen wrote: "Ah. But yes, when I look at stars, I see stars."

I see the stars as well but sometimes I think of someone, I think it has to do with distance. As far as the stars are away from me and this person being so far away as well. Distance could be physical and emotional.

as 4 kggelen, if it's any consolation, i've had many loved ones leave me early in death but i love that part in LION KING when simba sees his dad in the stars: beautiful, poignant & even a little comforting...

Michael | 8 comments I don't know if we're supposed to write a poem spontaneously right here or if it can be one we wrote a couple days ago. I'm gonna follow both rules. First I have one I wrote a couple days ago. Comment as savagely as you like.

Anywhere But Here

When I was ten I wanted to be Clapton
when I was five – George Washington

when I was a zygote I wanted to be
a golden zygote with keen i.q.
when I was a brainy golden zygote
I wanted to be platinum
and when platinum I wanted
to be a milk-white star
bright as just before a nova

the face I am learning
in smiling crooked water
is a thing with stripes of blue
black green magenta
and plum etched in

no nose
no eyes behind the mind

around the mouth
silly, bleached cheeks
silly, bleached bones

message 19: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (angarcia) | 10 comments I'm going to post a poem I wrote on my blog a while ago. Here it goes...

In this world of life and death,
There's no place for lies or regrets.
In this space of love and hate,
I walk alone; alone I say.

One foot after the next,
I stroll without a name.
If it takes minutes, hours or days,
It is of no consequence.

The light shines brightly above,
The music sounds lively around,
My heart beats stubbornly loud,
Fear is dead and darkness is gone.

Words hurt, but also heal.
Truth is there for you to feel.
A tear is deaf to sorry words,
A smile won't listen to whiny songs.

Day after day I move on a path;
I'm learning to find the secrets of life.
People run; they leave and return.
But in the end, they go back home.

In this world of life and death,
There's no place for lies or regrets.
In this space of love and hate,
We're never alone; alone I say.

Ohhh, I absolutely like that you ended with the same verse you began with. It gave credence to the middle stanza. I really like that line because it is so true: "Words hurt, but also heal."

Sarah (sarah1324) | 328 comments Myrtle The Turtle
There once was a turtle.
The turle's name was Myrtle.
Mrytle the turtle wished she could fly,
Fly high up in the sky.

One day Myrtle met a moose.
The moose liked apple juice.
He said that he could help her fly,
Fly high up in the sky.

He took her in an airplane
Just across the lane.
And Myrtle the turtle got to fly,
Fly high up in the sky.

I hoped you guys like my little poem but it is not required that you do. It was pretty ramdom but I do believe Myrtle would be a good name for a turtle. And maybe turles do want to fly. I dunno. Whatever the case, I hope it made you smile! :D

❄️ Propertea Of Frostea ❄️ Bitter SnoBerry ❄ (berrynumey) Each Day...

East is where the Sun appears
Red to orange, Ball of fire,
Rises over the Horizon.
Yet only a few notice
The radiance of this Sun...
Its not pretty, not beautiful exactly,
But it has its own glory..!

In each day, we dare not
Risk an eye contact,
At noon to the sphere of fire,
That seemingly sounds less dire...
Under the shade of trees,
Beings shelter and these
In in crowd look like bees...
Each day at their own ease..!

Till late at seven
Last the sky with twilight,
Hues of peaceful heaven
That dazzle so bright
With the sinking of the Sun
In the west, each day...
Still unnoticed by none
Seeing this they pray
Tomorrow will be brighter
Let thee troubles lay lighter..

Each day all this happens,
With the ticking of the clock
That forever goes tik-tok,
That a few usually mock
For delay it never has enough time
For one to dig his gold mine...
Each day, everything happens today,
Tomorrow will be another day
That goes by the Sun,
That will wait for none..

message 26: by Lucy (new)

Lucy (vintagequeen) I wrote this poem and won it in a competition.

Memories Of You

Fire and blood, the smell of smoke
The pain covers me like a cloak
The twisted metal of a car
My heart bears the only scar

My screams echo into the night
Can’t get the images from my sight
Thrashing and turning with tortured pain
The darkness slowly turns me insane

∼•∼

Haunted each night with the memories of you
Wishing it wasn’t but knowing it’s true
Since that terrible tragic day
My world has turned so ever grey

The memories of you, so vivid and clear
It’s easy to forget that you’re no longer here
Your absence, like a hole in my heart
Leaves me suffering in the dark

message 27: by Lucy (last edited Dec 08, 2012 01:34AM) (new)

Lucy (vintagequeen) This poem I wrote when I was depressed.

To End This Pain

What's the use of trying
To be a friend at all?
Most people will ignore the nice
Push hard until you fall

To be alone, neglected
Like a walking parasite
Everything I do and say
Nothing seems to be right

The evil darkness over me
Will soon come to an end
The haunting laugh of all the folks
That I tried to befriend

I cry myself to sleep at night
Just wishing it would stop
Maybe tomorrow it will cease
Then again, maybe not

I felt everyone had left me
It made me want to die
Cause I can only take so much
That makes me want to cry

I can’t take this any more
So I end this pain today
Of the burden I carry inside
I make it all go away

I give in to pleasure
That is twisted and dark
This pain that's within
Will soon leave its mark

The mark that it leaves
Will be what it does crave
The mark on my tombstone
As I lay in my grave

I hold no more fear
No pain and no hate
I lay still in victory
With death as my mate

At last I am free from this pain
It brings me great relief
But now I am the one to blame
For my family’s endless grief

How could I be so selfish?
Leaving this world in pain
Hurting the people who loved me
It brings me great shame

How I wish I could go back
And undo the things I did
I never knew that my actions
Would hurt those I was amid

Sometimes the easiest way
Of ending someone’s agony
Is not wisest of choices
For it will only end in tragedy

❄️ Propertea Of Frostea ❄️ Bitter SnoBerry ❄ (berrynumey) Mystery Of A Miracle...

The World is like a piece
Of a puzzle,
The Mystery of a Miracle
Lies somewhere in the right part
Of our vision...

Why is that we cry?
Just to feel relieved;
When our hearts overload...
Or to express oneself more,
With extra emotions?

Miracles happen all the time,
When a cloud takes shape
And when stars align...
Even when a tree grows blossoms,
And when Earth cries - Rain...

Mysteries we tend to solve;
Why not solve our longing
For the solving?
Rather than hunt for an anomalous
Critter, that is perhaps perfect alone...

Alone we never want to be left,
Why? We came here alone...
So is that a mystery that time
Never delays..? No matter how
Much we hope and pray for 'that' Miracle...

David Bradburn (dwb42461) | 6 comments The World In Color

When I was a child I saw color in simple red and blue.
Growing up was forced to see color in black and white.
I now only focus on vibrant rainbow aura's hues,
Not allowing societies prejudice as my guiding light.

The heart beats red and pushes blue through our veins.
Skin tone boasts, holding it all together askew.
Pulling us back to our sameness tight as horses reins,
Where we feel some sense of comfort ranking by hue.

Why do humans ignore mother nature's colorful womb?
Only seeing the utmost value in unwritten words white
and hate the black pens scribbling shades as a tomb.
We are destined to promulgate colorization as might.

The beige desert lost, need Moses on his mountaintop,
to stir us up where spirit hails as colorless energy.
Like Michael J.'s black is white and white is black,
female is male, adult is child, it must begin with me.

message 30: by Carrie (new)

Carrie P (ilavalavamylibrary) I had to look up the definition of "promulgate" :)

I hope our destiny is NOT defined by color.
I hope might is NOT right.
I hope power is for the people, not just for the white.

One would think there wouldn't be any rascism in Hawaii, where I live, where it's supposed to be all about aloha. But just last week, our high school had to be shut down for the day, because of all the racial fights between students, and it wasn't even between whites & Hawaiians. It was brown vs brown, the locals vs Micronesians.

So, how to survive in this world of color?
PROMULGATE PEACE.

by Michael Pacholski

a dish topped with strawberries
maybe a little bit of pumpkin
cinnamon candles
and their sassy dancing shadows

even more pumpkin pie
as I watch my sisters' friends
do the Rocky Horror time warp
sit down in a sweat
and cross their sprouting limbs

long ago has long since jumped to the left
to dip its toe in a parallel silver stream
the faint smile of a scab-kneed kid
nodding his head as the parade
marches forward in a lifting fog

Darkness of my heart

Overcome with sadness, I drag my feet
knowing not of what the world is doing,
knowig not where i am going,
for i care not.

Rain starts to fall as i walk,
and walk,
and walk,
and then collapse,
broken,
defeated,
alone.
With no one to care for me,
the darkness in my heart,
the pitch blackness that had already killed me once,
comes back again,
and consumes me,
until there is nothing left,
but the memory of me,
but then,
not even that lasts long.

Loved it! It is indeed a sad poem, but let me tell you it had a good message. It makes you think about how regret can be a worse enemy than desperation or sadness. It doesn't matter how bad you feel, the coward's path is always the worst choice. I totally understood every word, and I felt the poem was very real. Great!

Jasmine | ModernScrolls (modernscrolls) Sonnet

This morning as you walked out of the door,
I watched and listened as your steps faded.
You told me not to worry anymore,
So I sat outside, and there I waited.

I wondered where you could've run off to,
Wondered if you were worried about me.
If you stayed away, what then would I do,
When to my fragile heart, you held the key.

And I'll survive, but I'll be paranoid.
How can I live without the ones I love?
If you came back I would be overjoyed,
Forever at peace like ones up above.

But if I let you go I'll be set free,
Then you won't have to worry about me.

Shiki Misaki (samademoiselle) | 1 comments Can I try? :D

It’s ten in the evening and I’m still awake

still wearing the smile you gave

As I lay I wish to feel your embrace

Wanting you to know that you’re my saving grace.

Images of you and me floating above

I guess this is what they call love

As my heart yearns for you

I still lay, ‘cause there’s nothing I can do.

Something inside is overwhelming me

It’s a feeling I feel for thee

it’s special and unyielding to me

it’s something I wish for thee to see.

I want to feel your warmth, I want to see your smile

I want to hold your hand, I want your eyes to gaze into mine

I wanna hear your laugh, the sound of your voice

I want to hear your heartbeat, while you’re holding me close

My fantasies, I wish could come true

but it only will, if you cooperate too

but do not worry for I am forever yours to keep.

Goodnight my beloved, I will be dreaming of you in my sleep

message 42: by t star (new)

t star (hidden32) | 8 comments Everyone's poems are so great. I was really able to connect with all of them. On the side note thanks, they all got me thinking. Here is a poem I made not to long ago, when I found out too many lies at once

Secrets

The door without a key
The man in the cloak
The rules of life
The feeling of love
All secrets we use
We abuse

Secrets
I can't stand them
They lead to death
To pain
To greed
To so many things

Secrets are
The stars we wish on
The drama we watch
The meaning of life

Secrets are everywhere
We turn
They are in the food we eat
The water we drink
The clothes we wear
The air we breathe

Secrets
Are taught to babies
Secrets
Are lies and truths
Secrets
Are things we don't share
And sometimes things we do
Secrets are rumors

Secrets are words
Hidden from others
I so don't like secrets
They are destructive
Talked about
Secrets are everywhere

Secrets are secrets
Because we let them be
But no one would share a secret
No one would start that rumor
And that's why the world invented
"Shh"
"Shh" was invented
To keep secrets
Secret

Trish (anaklusmos-riptide) | 20 comments A wispy thung, no heavier than a feather
Though the impact as devastatious as stormy weather
It shows itself in strange and wondrous ways
But whatever form it takes, your heart sways

When it has left you your inside weeps
In its hollow grave, the pieces she sweeps
She cries out bloody murder in the middle off the night
Waking you up full of teary fright

And alas, when your lips have tasted sweet liberty
It pulls you back down again, its hands cold and icy
Though when you feel some warmth, unearthly
Hold onto its spontaneous feeling completely.
