Maybe, in this age, people will just say the reading books takes too long and needs too much effort.
I am not saying they will lose the ability to, I am saying that they may think of reasons they do not need it.
I'm neutral. I've for a Kindle 3 (yes, the one with a keypad) which I love. The books are cheaper, and the kindle is super light. Although, nothing replaces turning the pages of a book.
I think digital books will become more and more popular. I think they'll be pressured onto us more in the future. I think it's likely that governments might start taxing for paper and books for the sake of the environment. But there will always be a demand for books even if it is small. They'll just be more expensive.
