What kind of readers are we?

I too love dystopic and post-apocalyptic fiction. I will usually buy the books that the writers of Boing Boing suggest. I just got The Last Policeman: A Nove by Ben Winters and the last four Walking Dead with an xmas gift card.
I pretty much do / look at / watch / or read anything Xeni and Cory Doctorow tell me to. HOMELAND is due out in February and there's always a CC text file of the book available.
I also love dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction! Full disclosure, I also love YA, zombies, and vampires (the trashier the better). Right now, I'm on a Jasper Fforde kick (which isn't really any of the above)...
One of my hats is YA librarian; I love dystopian fic, SF and Fantasy, and mysteries. Trashy "regency" romances and historical fiction, too. I also love nonfiction science books, and anything by Dawkins. I'm waiting to get Jasper Fford's new YA novel very eagerly!
I pretty much devour anything I can get my hands on. Classics, popular literature, non-fiction (soft spot for pop psychology and that sort of thing - more generally accessible, since it took me, a long-time fiction fan, to get back into NF). Really, though: if someone recommends it to me and can make me interested enough, it's on my list. Which might be why I have more books on my to-read than I can handle....EDIT: Since there seems to be a "geeky" bent thus far, I feel I should point out that I am also a big sci-fi/fantasy fan. Depends, of course, on the topic and the quality, but I do love it. Threw together a reader's guide for an MLS course on it, even! readyourwayintothefuture.weebly.com (NB: I put this together in the middle of the night and while coming down with a pretty intense flu...so please take it with a grain of salt! Haha.)
Does anyone want to take a crack at a suggestion for our first January read? I'll pull the nominations and make a poll. I'll throw out a suggestion wheeeen I'm no doing it from a phone ;-)
i like dystopian/apocalyptic books. i also love historical fiction and anything that is about kidnappings -- this is something new i've noticed about me. i think its the constant guessing that draws me in.generally though i'll read any fiction you put in front of me.
I'm with Arianna: I'll read anything. Right now I'm reading The World is Flat (yup, a few years late on that one), and I've recently read The Parable of the Sower, The Casual Vacancy, The Happiness Project, and The Modern Middle East. I generally like to alternate between fiction and non-fiction, and to try to tuck some fiction classics in there, as well.
I like science fiction, some (a lot of) fantasy, historical fiction if the author has done the research, other stuff depending a lot on the quality of the writing. I am not fond of mainstream fiction for the most part, and (oh, horrors!) don't really like books about computer stuff unless I'm looking for a specific answer. I tend to avoid the best-seller lists unless somebody I already like ends up on it.
I feel really good about this group, you guys! Dystopias, sci-fi, fantasy, trashy vampire novels... Great! I'm a huge Neal Stephenson fan, despite not having read the Baroque Cycle yet. I want to be a Cory Doctorow fan, but I have yet to read anything he's written.
I'm a lot more likely to keep up with fiction reads than non-fiction, though I'm reading a lot about user experience and content strategy, right now.
(By the way, I set it to only email me once a week, so I may be VERY late to comment on things... Maybe I should set it to once a day.)

I was at awe to see how many jumped in on this over night. As you can see, we don't have any rules or focus - but that can change if you want it to. What kind of readers are we? We, like the SciFi and Fantasy group Sword & Laser, might opt to select and talk about a primary / alternative book.
I thought it might be fun to pick or alternate between fiction and non-fiction as long as it loosely remains associated with the code4lib purview, but it would be a shame if our focus was too niche.
Personally, I'm a science fiction and dystopia fan. The highbrow English major within is a modernist, but I've let him atrophy. Right now I'm reading Hyperion (Dave Mitchell) and Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - but my Overdrive checkout will expire long before I can grind through the latter.
