message 25: by Aeterna (new)

Aeterna Nox (aeterna_nox) | 2 comments Not sure that I could give it a fair read. I have had a lot of young friends that I lost to heroin and other so-called hard drugs. I only say that because I want you to know it's personal ghosts, not any moral issue that makes me say this: your words sent butterflies through my innards, and forced my jaw to clench and stomach to convulse. I don't mean to say that you are wrong for writing this, quite the opposite. I have spent years wondering what it is like to inject anything into one's own veins and what my friends thought each time before their drug (and eventually yet only once murderer) of choice took hold.
While I cannot be certain from your excerpt that this does involve anything of the sort, those few sentences take me back to when I was 14-17, attending too many funerals for any child still in highschool to have to see.
Again, I don't want this to be seen as criticism. There is a power in those words. Something that speaks to someone I have not been for over 10 years, made me feel a vulnerability I had not since I realized I ran with the wrong crowd and either had to sever ties to those who were still alive or else be put in position to join the deceased. I just wanted to say that, however clumbsily I had to. Regardless of the true subject matter, there is raw and deep emotion produced in your words. Never lose that skill.
