Wilhelmina Jenkins | 2049 comments Former poet laureate Rita Dove was asked by Bill Moyers whom she considers the 21st century’s Allen Ginsberg or Countee Cullen. Off the top of her head, she reeled off a number of poets under 40, whose work she’s “following with great hope.” Their names and links to their work are on Moyers' site:

Thanks for sharing.

I wish more poetry books were audio books - I read very few poetry books but so enjoy when poets read the works.

slp (s_l_p) | 3 comments I was just talking about this list with my friend. I was surprised at her list, considering how much criticism her American anthology has recently garnered...or, perhaps this was part of the response to that criticism.

also, I adore how much Bill Moyers posts on poetry. I think he's got an excellent critical eye for news, but he gives, as my friend says, bandwidth to poetry. his book of interviews The Language of Life is a beautiful text with poets from all over the world.

check out PennSound. they have a website and you can get some of their podcasts on iTunes for free. there are readings, discussions, and lectures. also, Poetry Foundation podcasts have several archived historical readings from amazing poets. also, Fish House (or From the Fish House?) has younger more contemporary writers.

Thanks Sarah for the info
I have listened to podcasts and other online audio with the poets reading their work - but I always want more :)
I think poetry would be more popular if there were more audio books.

Thank you for posting this. I have been looking to add more poetry books to my 2013 To-Read list. This is perfect!
