Ancient Historical Fiction discussion

I thought I'd try to start a discussion about the woman who started it all (at least in terms of femminist, prehistoric fiction). I've only found one group which discussed Jean Auel, and there hadn't been much recent activity there (at least when I last checked).

So, any fans of the Earth's Children series here?

I love these books because they took my imagination--and my writing--in a totally new direction. Like many fans, I was not happy with the last book, but I'll still re-read the first five forever.

I liked the first five, although I never got around to reading the last one (too much on my plate by the time it came out). I especially liked the first and third (?)—the one set in Ukraine. The Mammoth Hunters, Part 1 of 2, I think it was.

As a series, not too credible, but fun even so.

I loved the first couple, but they lost me with the sudden descent into romance in, I think, the third. Sorry.
