What do you think about this book so far? Any favorite characters?

I am so glad this was picked because I have been trying to read this for ages and just haven't had anything to really push me to start! Thanks!

it's nice. but I believe that jane is much too mature for her age. I think that's the only mistake of the writer, she assigns to the 9 year-old Jane too much maturity. maybe it's on purpose...

Kate (k8kc) I have read this book several times and love it more with each read! My boyfriend is reading it for the first time and it is so interesting to hear his perspective on the characters. He is at the part where Jane has just accepted Mr. Rochester's proposal and I asked him, "Why do you think he taunted Jane with Miss Ingram like that? Why did he keep goading her to declare her feelings for him, rather than declare his feelings himself?"

That sparked a lively debate, as our opinions were very different!

Good point! Glad you enjoyed! I am sure the opinions of a guy and a girl were totally different!

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) However, young Jane has certainly had a tough life, which seems to be a maturing influence. Certainly her aunt wasn't coddling her.
