2026 Reading Challenge discussion

2013 is almost here, and it's time to set your goal! How many books are you going to challenge yourself to read? Create your own discussion topic in this thread and tell us what your goal is. Then, throughout the year, track your progress.

How to create your discussion topic for your challenge
- Choose the number of books you plan to read, and go to that folder. We have 1-50 books, 51-100 books, and 101+ books.
- In that folder, click "new topic"
- In the "topic" box, write the name of your topic (it should have both your name and the number of books you plan to read)
- In the comment box, write your first post


And you're all set! Post here if you have any questions.

My goal is to read 100 books in 2013!

My goal for 2013 is 35

My goal is to read atleast 60 books

I'm going to try for 45. I've read 43 so far in 2012 and I will finish 1-4 more before the end of the year. So I will go with 45. I hope that at least 10 of those are from the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list.

I am going to try for 60 books in 2013, but hope to surpass this goal.

My goal is 30 (again).

My goal for 2013 is 250 books. Its 20 more than I challenged myself this year so I should be able to do it1

I am going for 35 books this year... :)

I'd love to read as many books as possible from variety of genres! I'm setting myself a target of 60 books! but I'd be happy if I crossed it :-)

im shooting for 36, i may go over that since i usually read around 50 but i have a very heavy class/work load this next year so im starting with 36

I am going for 50! This will be hard, but I would love to average a book a week.

I read 200 so far this year, so I'm gonna try for that again next year and hopefully exceed that a little.

My goal is going to be 50. I didn't do so good with that this year. My 4th quarter was non-existent. I'm hoping to improve this year.

I'm curious too as to how one can read so many in a year. Please let us know. Did you take a speed reading class? I've never tried one. I don't think I will ever reach that goal. I set a goal of 75 books and that's pushing it. Some day I'd like to get up to 100 books a year but don't see that happening yet.

Is the books you read all bigger books or you counting reading to kids also? Or, you also counting hobby type books, self-help books?

Just curious as to your type of books your counting.

I did terrible this year...I only read 24 books, which is probably the least amount of books I've ever read in a year. Crazy crazy year. So my goal for 2013 is going to be 25, which I am really hoping I will be able to pass easily.

I set my goal rather low this year at 250. Read 303 last year and 335 the year before. Probably another 100 or so of ones I gave up on but didn't count. Decided not to pressure myself. I want to read to enjoy, not because I have to.

I'm also going for 75 books, but I won't complain if I surpass this number! This is my first year actually keeping track of what I read and I'm thrilled to get started!

Hi Everyone. My challenge for this year is to keep reading everything I can get my hands on. I do not have an exact number because I have never counted the books I have read. Right now I am reading , and exploring . By the end of March I will have read both books and 3 by Drummond. Let's see how it goes!

Thank you Kara! My goal is to read 50 books this year. I like all genres and have no favourite writer so have started off by reading "Winkie" (Clifford John), "Love Among the Artists (George B. Shaw) and exploring Henry Drummond. I am already in halfway "Winkie" and am enjoying it but have left it for "Love Among the Artists" and in between have read and reread "The Most Beautiful Thing in the World" and started "The Law on Nature" also by Drummond. I am terribly busy right now but I read every night so let's see how things go for me this year. Good luck and good reads to everyone.
