Kai (uchinaguchi) Today, Saturday February 23rd 2013, I won over $200 in children's books as a raffle prize at an event I went to.
As someone who currently has no children to share these books with, it seemed selfish to keep them all to myself when I can think of a few people in mind I'd like to read these to. I have a wonderful two-year-old niece on my husband's side that is expecting another sibling in a few months, so we'll toss these over their way. But like any responsible adult, I'm going to read all of these books before sending them, to make sure the content is up to par with what the parent's would want.
Since I'm reading them, I'm going to count them toward my reading goal. I'll include them below as I read them into groups of what will go to my niece and anyone else I can think of to share these books with.

For my niece
Bushranger Bill by Megan De Kantzow Inside Mary Elizabeth's House by Pamela Allen Shhh! Little Mouse by Pamela Allen Jeremy's Decision by Ardyth Brott One Candle by Eve Bunting Carl's Snowy Afternoon by Alexandra Day If You Were A Pioneer On The Prairie (If You Were) by Anne Kamma Moon Dance by Christian Riese Lassen Put Me in the Zoo by Robert Lopshire Itchy, Itchy Chicken Pox (Hello Reader!, Level 1) by Grace Maccarone The Castaway Pirates A Pop-Up Tale of Bad Luck, Sharp Teeth, and Stinky Toes by Ray Marshall Wink The Ninja Who Wanted to be Noticed by J.C. Phillipps Gallop! A Scanimation Picture Book by Rufus Butler Seder Train Song by Diane Siebert Scooby-doo Spooky Sports Day (Scooby-Doo, Picture Clue #14) by Erin Soderberg The Busy Tree by Jennifer Ward Digger Man by Andrea Zimmerman

For other children
How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long What's in My Pocket? by Rozanne Lanczak Williams Cuidemos a la Tierra = Let's Take Care of the Earth by Rozanne Lanczak Williams El Gatito Miedoso by Rozanne Lanczak Williams Shapes In Animals/Figuras En Los Animales by Sebastiano Ranchetti Nose/Nariz by Cynthia Fitterer Klingel Ears/Orejas by Cynthia Fitterer Klingel Hands/Manos by Cynthia Fitterer Klingel Hair/Pelo by Cynthia Fitterer Klingel Skin/Piel by Cynthia Fitterer Klingel

I actually picked up a copy at my college for free. There was a bookshelf the professors in the building put the books they no longer wanted for themselves and it was up for grabs. It was the only non-textbook book on the shelf that day, and the spine is bent and the cover is worn so I figured someone enjoyed it.

Honestly, based on the cover and the blurb on the back, I thought it would be a hilarious read. However, I've only heard excellent things from people I know who've read it. I'll let you know what I think of it by the end of March since that is when I'm finally going to read it!
