The officer walked into the court room with a terrified Johnny. He put Johnny in the defendant's chair and took his place in the back corner of the room.
"All rise!" The bailiff announced. "The honorable Mary-Anne presiding." He told them.
Johnny stood up along with everyone else when he was told to. His legs were shaking with fear.

Hettie watched Johnny anxiously.
Johnny's lawyer stood up. "Your honor, my client, Johnny Fox, is not a murderer. Yes he killed a man, but he didn't intentionally kill him. He merely was trying to get around him when he bumped into the officer, and caused the tragedy to happen."
Hettie gave a weak smile to Johnny.
The prosecution stood up and gave their opening statement. "You have already heard the defense say the act was an accident. But Johnny Fox is a murderer. He pushed the officer off the ledge merely for the fun of it. He broke the law and needs to be correctly dealt with. He is guilty of this terrible crime and doesn't deserve any mercy."
Emily wrote: "Hettie gave a weak smile to Johnny."
Johnny reached towards her with his cuffed hands. He wanted to hug her.

Hettie shook her head at him, mouthing that she would come to him after, but for now to stay seated.
Mati wrote: "The judge watched silently, she already had her verdict."
The prosecution stood up once more. "Your honor, we call Johnny Fox to the stand."
Johnny stood up and walked up the stand. He gave the oath of truth and took his seat.
"Now Johnny, why did you kill him?" the lawyer asked, then without waiting for an answer he started to speak again. "Was it because you just hate police officers? You saw the officer in his uniform and you were just filled with rage that you had to push him over the edge didn't you? The rage just built up inside you and you couldn't take it anymore so you killed him. Or was it because you just felt like it would be fun? That's the reason isn't it? That you just did it for kicks!" He said loudly and provokingly.
Johnny started shaking with fear. "I-I d-didn't m-mean to d-do it."

Johnny's lawyer stood up. "Johnny, can you please point your mother out?" He asked calmly.
Johnny pointed to his mother.
"Do you always tell her the truth?"
Johnny nodded his head.
"No further questions."
Johnny stood up and shakily walked back to his seat.
"Defense calls Hettie Fox to the stand."
Johnny pointed to his mother.

Hettie rose and came to the stand, trying to appear calm and confident but only half succeeding.
"Er, well, I would describe as a kind, diligent young boy, a trifle strong willed like most teenage boys... very caring and compassionate, honest and hard working..."
"No further questions." The lawyer sat down.
"Prosecution rests." The prosecution lawyer told everyone.
The baileff motioned for Hettie to go back to her seat.

Hettie slipped back to her seat, ruffling Johnny's hair as she went past.
Johnny smiled at his mother a little bit. He then pouted.
Everyone looked up at Judge Mary-Anne for her judgement.
Johnny didn't look up at the judge. He was pouting and looking down, crying softly.

Johnny didn't stand up when the judge stood up. Everyone else stood up though.
The bailiff walked over to Johnny and yanked him to his feet.

"What are you looking at me like that for?"
